Just keeping myself in check, I am thinking about making a silvery grey dress with a cloud grey chemise or something in the dusty blue area..will that be okay? I don't want to end up wearing some damning color like black at a regular modern wedding.
What colors not to wear to a renassiance wedding?

Reply:Huh? I'm confused. Somebody explain. I know what the Renassiance period was. I am acting majorly blonde.
Reply:yes light colors are ok
Reply:research Renaissance costumes to get ideas
are you going to be a noble woman or not
if you want to be a noble woman- add detachable long sleeves
pale colors sound good
I believe any color was acceptable at that time period
Reply:do not wear black but light colours will be fine (pink/peach/white %26amp; a light yellow)

How can we coordinate our outfits for a wedding?
My husband and I are going to an evening wedding in a couple weeks. I have a black and white polka dot dress that is tea length and he's wearing a black suit. Any ideas on how to accessorize us to match/coordinate without looking hokey?
How can we coordinate our outfits for a wedding?
assesorize with red and he can have like a red tie or hankerchef and then u could have the red heels but please dont let him wear red shoes
Reply:I wouldn't do anything other than wear what your dress with normal accessories. If your husband does anything to accessorize other than his suit, it will look hokey, so I think you both will look good just dressed as you have said.
Reply:Don't coordinate. That's dorky! and makes it look like neither of you can think for yourself. Both wearing black and white is enough or maybe both wear a simple flower - in your hair, in his buttonhole.
Reply:have him wear a white tie and ur set
Reply:Keep it simple. Your dress will be eye-catching anyway. Black or white shirt with a solid tie.

Where can I get my mother's wedding dress properly stored?
My mother passed away last year, leaving me a few important mementos, one being her wedding dress. Sap that I am, I'm not up to donating it. But it's been hanging in a closet for about 16 years so I want it cleaned, and properly stored. Anyone know of businesses who do this inexpensively? Thanks in advance!
Where can I get my mother's wedding dress properly stored?
Inexpensively? Not really. Most good, reliable, professional dry cleaners have access to wedding gown preservation services that will, among other things, vacuum seal the dress in an acid-free box. But that is not cheap (about $150).
Check out: gownpreservation.com or prestigepreservation.com
OR, you can just get it cleaned and pressed, put it into a muslin (NOT plastic) sack and store it folded in a drawer or under your bed in an acid-free box. Don't leave it hanging -- too much stress on straps and shoulders. Check it every year or so for yellowing (due to oxidation) and moth damage.
Hope this helps.
Reply:I understand the grief. Why not take a picture of it and frame it really nicely, maybe with a picture of your Mom? Donate the gown so that another, less fortunate, woman could begin her marriage with the gown that your mother wore on the most special day.

What Makeup Should I Wear to a Wedding?
I'm attending a wedding in mid-June, wearing a medium green, halter, knee-length dress, with gold shoes and a necklace. I have long light brown hair with blonde highlights, and hazel eyes. I'm planning on wearing my hair up, and curly.
What Makeup Should I Wear to a Wedding?
you and i both!!! only... im IN the wedding... but to the rehersal dinner, im wearing a green dress, halter, cocktail length, with gold strappy shoes and accessories! ah yes, great minds think alike. ahem... did you get your dress from Lord and Taylors? if so... you are my double! lol
anyways.. i suggest staying away from the red lip/smoky eye combination. itll be a hot summer day anyways. go as natural as you can! id suggest a shimmery peachy blush and matching lip tint, perhaps in berry, and use a soft gold eyeshaddow. it will be so pretty!
Reply:with the description of your hair %26amp; outfit, i would suggest a fool-proof idea, that you start off by putting emphasis on your eyes. keep your skin smooth, light blush only on the apples of your cheeks to keep it natural, and a clear gloss or nude lipstick.
to emphasize your eyes, no matter what color scheme for shadow you chose, all you have to do is take a dark (coal, noir, blacks %26amp; browns work best) eyeliner or shadow-liquid, powder doesnt matter they all achieve the same effects-take that dark color and apply a fine line to the outer corners of both your top and bottom lids.
i suggest also, keeping the colors to a minimum (a gold or shimmery neutral applied to the inner corners and smeared across the top lids would be elegant) in order to make the darkened corners %26amp; eyelashes really pop. also for the mascara, my personal fave is lash architect by loreal-apply two coats to top %26amp; one coat to only outer corners of bottom.
just try to keep it simple, but fun-sexy and dont out-do the bride!! lolhave fun at the wedding %26amp; take lots of pictures of how the makeup came out!! :) goodluck.
Reply:MAC makes a beautiful green shadow called Swimming that would look beautiful on your lower lids. It would really highlight your eyes and dress. Top if off with a soft grey eye liner and a black mascara. Then a sweep of bronzer across the apples of your cheeks and a sheer gold lip gloss like MAC Vibrational.
Reply:well it depends on what color your dress is but i think pink cause it goes real good and for you hair i would do corn rolls
Reply:You should go light on the make-up. You don't want to overshadow the bride.
For eye shadow, you should defintaly go with something that complement's your eye's. If you have green in your eye's, since you have Hazel, you can put a light green on your eye's, which with both complement your eye's and dress.
For Mascara, you can use black and also, curl your eyelashes up. I always thought that was really beautiful.
For Blush, you should use a light pink, which will look beautiful and bring out your whole face.
For lip stick/lip gloss, you a light pink. It's always beautiful and goes together with everything!
I hope I helped!
And have fun at the wedding!
PS: If you go to the Cover Girl website, you can make a model of yourself and try on different make up!

What can I do to get my wedding ring to stop twisting?
My wedding ring just barely fits over my knuckles, but the diamond twists and is annoying. Is there anything I can use to make this stop twisting?
What can I do to get my wedding ring to stop twisting?
A small, stainless steel screw will work....it'll hold it right where you put it.
:) Seriously, the jewelry store has a little clip that will HELP hold it in place. It's called a "ring guard".
Reply:LOL....Thanks Report It
Reply:If you would like one more suggestion......Superglue will keep it straight too. :P Report It
Reply:I just crack myself up sometime!!! Report It
Reply:Get it resized at your local jewelry store...or gain some weight!!
Reply:take it to the shop and ask the to resize. or pinch the diamond in there tighter, b/c you dont wanna loose that!!
Reply:go to the place you got it and tell them it doesnt fit and they will help you! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo love ya!!!
Reply:I suggest that u have the diamond removed and then geta different band or tighten that one.hey this is america grl they will come up with any thing these days.
Reply:don know
try some k gel
Reply:Use a pr. of needlenose pliers to tighten the area around the stone. After you do that take it to a jewelry store and have them fix it.
Reply:I dont think there is much you can do to get it to stop twisting if it was the physical band that was twisting than I would say there is little clear rubber things theat fills the space inbetween the finger and the ring which would help it from twisting on your finger but if the diamond is twisting it could mean that it is loose I would suggest going to a jeweler and having them take a look at it, If you have a warranty on the ring that would probably cover the replacement, If not it wouldnt hurt to get it priced and checked for repair! Good Luck
Reply:Get a ring guard. Your local jeweler can put one on your ring in a few minutes.
Reply:Being a lucky man, I have a plain gold circular wedding band that has no diamond, and it does not matter if it twists, it looks the same.
My wife had her wedding band and engagement ring soldered together at the jewelers. Soldered may not be the right word since they use the precious metal to do it.

What should she wear to a Southern Wedding?
My girlfriend and I are going to a wedding in August in Atlanta, Georgia. I am wearing a shirt, tie and sportcoat. She only wears blue jeans. I would like to help her pick out and buy her an outfit. What is appropriate a dress/skirt, please help?
What should she wear to a Southern Wedding?
I went to a wedding in Mississippi and everyone was dressed very conservatively, almost dowdy. Even young women were wearing "mother of the bride" attire. I would suggest a two piece suite in some shade of pastel, nude pantyhose, and a moderate pump for footwear. Make sure the suit has a skirt and not pants. If you are attending an African American wedding - wear a hat with feathers. In general, I find that women in the south tend to dress about 15 years older than they actually are.
Reply:she doesn't have to wear a dress or skirt but it would be nice if she did. instead a nice pair of light colored pants and nice blouse will work. since it is august and sure to be hot she might feel more comfortable in a dressy skorts outfit.
Reply:idk if you will know what im talking about, but the old like 60-70 dresses that arent tight n like poof at the bottom and are tee lenght (right below knees) of any colr wouldbe great...
you can go to: www.dillards.com, go below style watch for her to summer dresses and any of thse dresses wouldbe good...they are all ute!!! good luck and pick a good color on her!!!
Reply:she should at least have a nice skirt and shirt with a pair of cute sandals or a nice dress with sandals but not blue jeans and a t-shirt that is just not right
Reply:Well being a Georgia Girl I can tell you it will be hot and humid in August. So she needs to wear something that she can feel comfortable in. You didn't mention if it is an indoor or outdoor wedding but a cute sundress would be nice. A sweater or something to throw over her shoulders is a must since most southern establishments have the AC turned down cold enough for a meat locker. You must be a nice guy to help your girlfriend go shopping!! Good for you.
Reply:I am a jeans girl, too. I prefer skirt/top combos to dresses any day. She could also look for a pair of wide leg gauchos - they are flowy pants that look like a skirt, paired w/ a cute top. Sandals or low heels will complete the look, plus no need for panty hose. Lots of women wear stuff like that down here because of the heat.
Oh, and to the one who said in MS/South we look like we dress 15 years older - get over yourself! I live here and we don't. We just dress appropriate to the situation and some ladies still follow the older versions of etiquette. Which calls for certain outfits for certain events. And if momma says to wear it, you wear it.
Reply:A sundress, Not white. She might get a kick out of a hat since a dress is going to unique for her anyway, but certainly Not necessary. Have fun..
Reply:Here are some some ideas that she could wear:
*She could a wear a nice dark blue dress with a necklace and earrings
*Or she could wear a black skirt with a some nice jewelery
Reply:My suggestion is to head for "Ross" (An inexpensive store we have here in the south) find a light pastel print sundress and White sandals. You don't want something real bright or different as it would call attention away from the bride and the bride is always the Brightest, Loudest, Beautiful and most important person at any Southern Wedding.
Reply:buy her a nice flowly dress with cute kitten heal sandals. BCBG girls have beautiful dresses appropriate for summer weddings. also, you can wear it again.
Reply:A knee length or just above the knee skirt or dress will work. If shes "funny" about her figure, Wrap Dresses do a great job at masking imperfections in the mid section. In general, think of what color she looks good in and search for a dress/ skirt and top in that shade. You can find reasonable shoes that look super cute at Payless for $20 or less. The dress/ skirt and top can be found at someplace like Target (or the website). If shes like me and hates dressing up - I'm a jeans girl too- remind her its just for 1 day and no will pay much attention to her.. they'll focus on the happy couple . Good luck.
Reply:she can wear a dress or skirt. i think dresses are easier. it will hot and humid so hopefully the wedding is indoors. how much do you want to spend? ann taylor or ann taylor loft has really cute sundresses. if you don't want to spend a lot, then try forever 21 or charlotte russe.

How much would I get for my wedding set?
My husband bought my engagement ring and wedding band in 2005. The value of the set was close to $1000 when gold was around $400 an ounce. The ring is a half carat diamond and 14k gold. I don't care for the ring. It doesn't fit right. My husband bought me another bridal set for our first anniversary which fits great and I treasure it more than my first one. I have asked his permission to sell the ring. We need the money to fix our car. Thanks for any answers.
How much would I get for my wedding set?
Usually you will be able to sell secondhand jewellery for half of the valuation price. I have a ring worth $13850 but if I were to sell it I would only aim for $6000 maximum because jewellery is usually over valued and over-priced when bought new, it has an extremely high mark up
Reply:Your best deal would have been trading it in for the new set you just bought. Some jewelers guarantee the price you pay of you trade up with them at a later date. It's obviously too late for that. Markups on jewelery are typically huge. Even with the rise in the price of gold, don't expect to get what you paid for the jewelery selling it outright.
Reply:yup, ithas a high markup. Try advertising in a local classified. Or try ebay. You'll get your best vale from a place like ebay, but you'll most likely only get melt value unless you have a couple bidiots that want it for jewel value. Above all, stay clear of pawn shops.

How do we dress for a summer wedding on Long Island?
We're both from So Cal and have never been on the East Coast in the summer. How's the weather? Are wedding apparrel rules different on the East Coast?
How do we dress for a summer wedding on Long Island?
No. The same rules apply.
If it is in the afternoon or morning, wear a dressy casual dress(or skirt%26amp;blouse) that comes at or below the knee.
If it is at night, such as a candlelight ceremony, wear a very dressy dress. It can be above the knee to floor length as long as you don't look like you're trying to look better than the bride.
Wear light colors or black or white.
Black OR white is considered acceptable now.
The no black or white thing is VERY antiquated. Pick up ANY magazine that addresses that question.
So if black or white looks good on you, WEAR IT for crying out loud. IT'S OK!
I would not wear sandals. It is acceptable for day but I personally would want to show more respect by wearing dress pumps.
Reply:You should dress however the Bride wishes you to dress.
Reply:an elegant affair i was a bridemaid there very dressy no white or black
Reply:If it is in the summer, you should wear a dressy sundress... don't wear the wedding colors whatever you do! Then you should get some dressier sandals and a hand bag-not a purse- that matches either shoes or dress. Wear pearl earings and your hair exactly how it is in your avatar pic! Very cute!
Reply:I suggest for a woman; sleeveless (not strapless, SLEEVELESS) sheath with an empire waist or a-line. Blue, pink, or cream. No white. If the wedding is outdoors, a coordinating hat would also be appropriate.
Reply:No matter what do not wear white or black, wear light colors
very casual, a dress with some pumps, or a nice blouse with a nice skirt, or even a nice pants suit, with open toe shoes.

What is a cute hairstyle for a wedding?
I have very long blonde hair with bangs a little past my eyes. It is naturally curly/wavy. What would be a cute hairstyle for a wedding?
What is a cute hairstyle for a wedding?
Oh yay! I think a cute up-do would be cute... what you do is just like get your hair to the point where it feels dirty like with mousse and hairspray and then use bobby piins and twist your hair in one inch section until it is all put up... it takes a good 5-10 minutes and looks adorable!
Reply:Do you know INDIAN style , will be very good for long and Curly Hair.
Reply:i had a pretty basic style on my wedding day. my hair was really long too. it was put up into a bun with little tendrils (curls) all over. i recommend trying a bunch before you commit to one. have fun, and congratulations.
Reply:hey ,put part of it up (like a half ponytail)and leave the rest down on your shoulders.curl your bangs in ringlets to kinda frame your face .

Reply:If you are wearing a strapless dress, an updo looks best. It elongates the neck and makes you look taller. If you are not wearing a strapless dress, wear your hair down with your curls looking soft and bouncy.
Reply:Shave it bald. Everybody's doing it for their wedding.
It symbolizes how as the new hair grows, so will your everlasting relationship.
Reply:That totally depends on your head piece. I've seen girls wear their hair down, but their head piece allows that. Some head pieces require your hair to be up. Best thing is to take your head piece to a hair stylist. She or he will show you the hair style that will best suit you. Go ahead and reserve a slot for you wedding day and let them style your hair.

Where can I buy alcohol for my wedding for 150 people on a really tight budget?
My fiance and I are on a very tight budget. Our caterer is wonderful and provides us with a bartender and we want to serve wine and a signature drink ( such as a mango mojito)... because it's a fall colored themed wedding. We can save money by bringing our own liquor and the bartender will make and serve all of the drinks. Where can we buy alcohol in bulk ( specifically for our mojito) and good wine?
Where can I buy alcohol for my wedding for 150 people on a really tight budget?
Depending on your state. Some have outlets if they are bordering other states, like Vermont does and it's cheap. If that isn't eh case go to a local package store and ask them for a bulk price on what you want and see what kind of break they will give to you. They may want the money up front and make sure to get it earlier than you need it so you aren't left short. If the state is controlled by an Alcohol Board, like Virginia, you have to buy from the state alcohol for the hard liquor and the beer you can try dealing for at any store, usually a smaller one that is privately owned will be better. Try a few and see how good you can get it for. Good luck, congrats and you are smart for being thrifty, it will be over in a flash.

Reply:call a winery in the Finger Lakes region of NY State and see how you can get it by the case/barrel
Reply:It really depends..If you have like a wholesale liquor place nearby. we bought ours from the grocery store.
Reply:A lot of people these days, make their own wedding wine.
Those places that sell the kits will do it %26amp; store it for you.
But you need 30 to 60 days minimum to make a batch.

Reply:Seeing that you are located in the DC Metro area, there are PLENTY of ABC stores, especially in VA. Do a search for some and make some phone calls. Also, if you know anyone in the military they can assist you with getting less expensive alcohol products on base. There are many military bases in the DC Metro area.
Good luck and best wishes!
Reply:If you have a bevo nearby, they are always doing the buy one bottle of wine, get one for 5cents deal. Or Trader Joes. They always have good deals when you buy a large amount of wine. As for your signature drink, just go to costco and buy the cheapest non brand liquor that you can. Nobody will know the diffence and it will save you a ton of money!

What extra steps should I take to make my hair look gorgeous for my wedding day?
My wedding day is 10 days away. My hair is in good condition now. My hair is brunette and pretty straight. It is also long. Anything I can do to make it glossy and beautiful? Thanks!
What extra steps should I take to make my hair look gorgeous for my wedding day?
use a shine serum. john freida has some great shine products for hair. also maybe do a hot oil or deep conditioning treatment for some extra healthy bounce in your hair.
here's some products that i think would be great. heres the links:
http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/produ...
or if you dont want to use this try another glosser like:
http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?P...
(a small amount goes a long way)
hot oil treatments:
http://www.drugstore.com/qxp26976_333181...
deep conditioners:

also try getting your hair trimmed a few days before the wedding, to get any dead ends off.
hope this helps.

Reply:So long you keep your ends trimmed up like the week before the wedding you should be fine. I'm a stylist and I try to encourage my clients if they're getting married to do this. That way their updo isn't as hard to put up and we don't have to try to mask the ends as much. If you worried about frizz I suggest TIGI BedHead AfterParty. It works great and it's not as heavy as a serum. Don't stress out about your hair either...You're stylist will do a wonderful job. If you don't like something she's doing while it's going on, make sure you tell her then! If you tell her at the end it's kinda hard to fix it. It's possible, but it'll be a little bit harder.
Enjoy your day!!!
If you need anything else just let me know.
Reply:Use a hair mask and leave it on under a shower cap to make your hair soft and shiny!! I just had my prom and this worked for me!!
Reply:I definitely recommend Garnier 3 Minute Deep Conditioner. It's only about $4, takes 3 minutes, is available at any drug store, and works wonders! Good luck and congrats on your wedding!
Reply:There is this glossy product by Biolage.. give it a try.. keep your split ends groomed and condition your hair. check with your stylist.

What do i wear to a february wedding in london?
I am from San Francisco, and i will be attending my cousins wedding in london at the beginning of February. I am at a total loss for what to wear, because i know it will be cold. Do i where a dress, or do i wear nice pants and shirt? I am aware that i will have to wear a heavy coat, but what can i wear to stay warm but look nice?
Thanks for all of your help!
What do i wear to a february wedding in london?
Wear a nice dress (try and get a long sleeve one, maybe an elegant sweater dress cinched at the waist with a thick belt) team your dress with some black opaque tights and nice high heels (I wouldn't recommend stilletos cus it could be icy.)
Team your dress with a nice warm peacoat and a scarf.
You could wear trousers if you want in which case go for a ncie wide leg pair with a nice white blouse tucked into it with a cute cardigan, boots and a pendant =]
Reply:February here in London can be very cold. The trick to surviving cold snaps is to wear lots of tight fitting layers. You are not going to be out of doors for very long, so I would not worry too much about 'freezing'.
The day-time temp here in London now is hitting about 50 degrees Farenheit - not sure what that is in Centigrade, but think it's about 10-C or so.

What is the best way to serve champayne at a wedding reception?
I want to offer champayne at a wedding reception. Is it okay to have a seperate table with chilled bottles of champayne and glasses? Or would it look classier to have 2 chilled bottles on each table? I don't want to be overloaded on bottles and have oddles left afterwards. Any ideas on how to have champayne at a wedding????
What is the best way to serve champayne at a wedding reception?
My reception site is offering me two champagne bucket stands per table. (Its just a champagne bucket that stands near each table like a floor lamp). So if your reception site can offer this, I would go for it. I am also ahving a very nice selection of champagne, and I am not going to lie, I kind of want to show it off so I like the buckets by the table. Just be sure the bottles are chilled in a fridge before hand and placed into the ice and water at the last possible moment or the labels might start falling off. (Which would not look classy).
Reply:Have waiters walking around with trays of glasses filled with champagne.
Reply:not to worry there will not be leftovers at the table. have 2 bottles per table..that is prefeered and adds more class.
Reply:It is best drank off of cleavage.

Wedding Cake - When should I make and how big?
I heard myself telling a friend I would make her wedding cake - so now I need a bit of info please. THe wedding isn't until this time next year how far in advance should I make the cake? Also there are 120 guests to the wedding what would be the ideal size I should make - i.e. how many tiers. As you can see I am a bit lost with this and all your help would be most helpful.
Wedding Cake - When should I make and how big?
Wedding cakes – lots of fun – but also a pain in the _____(fill in the blank)!
Square cakes are nice because they yield more servings then a round cake of similar size – so you don’t have to make as many tiers. Unless you already have the pans, I would not suggest a sheet cake. A tier cake using 3 or 4 pans would work well for 120 pieces. A new twist on the decoration for square stacked cakes is to decorate it to look like a stack of wrapped gifts. It is a very original look and easier to do than elaborate frosting designs. If you aren't interested in a cake topper as a keepsake, choosing a square wedding cake with the gift wrap appearance eliminates the need for a cake topper as the cake is decorated with ribbons and bows. You can make the frosting look like bows and ribbons or use real ones. You can also use silk flowers as part of the decorations. There are lots of photos of this type of cake on-line and in magazines – or just use your imagination!
The decorating is the fun part. Knowing how much cake to make is more difficult. This site has a great chart to help tell you how much batter is needed for the various size pans you will be using.
http://cooksdream.com/merchant2/merchant...
A normal cake recipe yields 4 to 6 cups of batter. (A packaged cake mix yields about the same – check the box.)
To serve 120 people, I would use three tiers. Three tiers can stand on its own and would not need platforms to support it. You could probably add a fourth tier, if you thought you needed it. For example a 14" bottom tier a 12" middle one and an 10" top should result in 110 servings at 2” by 2” and more if the servings are 1 1/12” by 2”.
When baking your cake, be sure to generously grease the inside of the cake pans with solid vegetable shortening. Use pastry brush to spread the shortening evenly. Make sure all sides are evenly covered. Sprinkle flour inside of pan and shake the pan back and forth so the flour covers all the greased surface. Tap out excess flour and if any shiny spots remain, touch up with more shortening and flour. This important step will prevent cake from sticking to the pan. (Pan bottoms may be lined with waxed paper after greasing. There is no need to flour pans with this method. They will unmold easily.)
Bake cake according to temperature and time specifications in recipe instructions. Remove cake from oven and let cool 10 minutes in pan on cake rack. Larger cakes need to cool about 15 minutes. To remove cake from pan, place cake rack against top of cake and turn both cake and rack over. Lift pan carefully. If cake will not release from pan, return to warm oven 250 degrees for a few minutes. Cool cake completely, at least 1 hour. Then brush loose crumbs off cake and it is ready to decorate.
You may bake your cake up to 1-3 months ahead of time, and freeze wrapped in heavy duty aluminum foil. Always thaw cake completely before icing. Your cake will still be fresh and easy to ice because it will still be firm.
Good luck!
Reply:If you don't know any of the answers then I suggest you get a professional to do it for you as it seems you have taken on a mammoth task without realising it! Good luck!
Reply:Maybe you should cheat and go out and by one.
Reply:if it is going to be made from dried fruit- like a xmas pud- this can be made now as it needs time to mature and can be stored up until 6months after wedding. longer if kept in freezer.
not many people like the dried fruit one so id just go for 2 tiers. this will be pleanty as most people dont bother with cake anyway.
sponge id leave until few month till wedding. id still use two tiers. you'll have to look up wedding ckes in recipe book

How do you become successful in the wedding photography business?
I started a small wedding photography business. I have placed business cards in local bridal shops. but I can't seem to generate any customers at this time. No one is calling, I can't afford the $1,000 -$1600 to enter bridal shows. I know word of mouth is the best way but when you don't have a customer base what do you do? Please help
How do you become successful in the wedding photography business?
I suppose you have experience, a portfolio, have taken formal classes and you've done an apprenticeship with an experienced, established professional phtoographer?
In being a wedding photographer, you will find that you will have dry spells and a lot of free time on your hands; for that reason, I suggest that you expand your business to also include portraits, graduations, Christenings, and maybe even do a little of children and/or baby photos. Those are opportunities to make money ANeD to get your name known. Depending on the area where you're located, you might also want to work for a shop that does on-site photo processing (learn how to operate the equipment, machines, etc... learn as much as you can and keep your eyes and ears open).
Consider also taking a few businesses classes at the local "Y" or local community college through the Evening Adult %26amp; Continuing Education Department; it will help you in more ways than one... taxes, accounting, etc. Talented and skilled photographers go bankrupt all the time because they have no kind of business sense; learn as much as you can.
Getting started ain't always as easy as we imagine. For that reason you might want to visit a few churches and speak with the Holy Man, leave a few cards or make a professional looking circular and post it on the bulletin boards, do a few freebies or give them as much of a break as you can (use this to build a portfolio, get recommendations... future referrals) for a few people on really tight budgets. Bridal shops often don't say anything but they may expect a "finder's fee" or a tip (which I am sorely against), flower shops, beauty salons, etc. Speak with the proprietors and let them know that you're just starting out; take a few of their cards and also offer to pass them to any and all of your clients. Do you know anyone in the catering business? That's also a plus.
Don't give up. Starting is always the most difficult part! Listen, all the talent and skills in the world won't amount to anything unless you have the passion to persevere and overcome those obstacles you're sure to encounter; so, hang in there. Good luck and very best wishes.
Reply:Start by contacting local churches and offering to do your first few weddings for the cost of the prints and albums. They will know of people getting married and will make your offer to them. Then ask them for referrals and letters of recommendation, and make samples from their weddings that you can show other potential clients. Also put up a website a.s.a.p. and join the wedding websites that redirect clients to your site. These are usually in the $50 a year range. You can find them by doing a search for wedding photographers. Also join local networking groups. Most people know someone who's getting married. It's like starting a snowball rolling downhill. It's tough to start, but will pick up speed over time. Good luck and God Bless.
Reply:You have to offer something the other photographers don't have. Figure out what makes you unique %26amp; why every bride must have you photograph the wedding. Make all of that available for viewing on your website.
I have no idea what that might be...
Reply:I'm just agreeing with kehkohjones when he says to expand your horizons. Man, weddings are what people try to get OUT of doing after a while. Maybe you can do some on-site portraiture, especially if you live in some unique location like near the beach, etc. You might find some of THOSE people come back and ask if you can do a wedding if they were happy with your family or individual portraits.
Reply:[I]t really depends if you are in a large city or not I think (location). Try adds in local newspapers.
Reply:you can try by doing it for friends, if you know make up and bridal deco people, you may try combining with them to offer a package deal, making a one stop convenience and lower prices as a selling point. taking part in competitions will help because if all things being equal, then being an award winning photographer will definitely be the tie breaker.
hope that these suggestion will help.
God bless.
Reply:I strongly encourage you to design and post a website displaying your skills. This has proved the best source of new contacts for me during the last year. A lot of brides are doing a search for wedding photographers...start at the top and work their way down the list. If you can build the site yourself....(I have a simple, clean site that loads quickly and is easy to navigate.) you save a lot of money. Of course when you look at your rivals they may have a site with all sorts of bells and whistles...but they also paid for it. When you get new material you post it quickly and perhaps toss in a slide show....
the web offers you a lot of opportunity to get your work out there for people to see. I get a lot of calls from brides out-of-state who are willing to pay for my travel and hotel so I can shoot their wedding. The local stuff is great but you're fighting a saturated market.
Good Luck

Good Luck
What should I wear to a spring wedding in Arkansas?
My fiance's best friend is getting married in Arkansas in April. My fiance is one of the groomsmen, which probably means that I may want to spend a little more on what I'm wearing because he'll be in a tux.
So, anyway, I'm looking for ideas. It seems like this spring's trend is black and white, but would that be okay for a wedding? I can't seem to find anything else in the stores. Floral prints are rampant too - are those acceptable?
Also, for more background, the ceremony is in a church in downtown Little Rock on a Saturday afternoon. The reception is in an adjoining hall.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
What should I wear to a spring wedding in Arkansas?
Hello. I live in Fayetteville (which is northwestern of Little Rock), but my boyfriend's and best friend's families both live in Little Rock and I accompany them on their family visits often. Some of the weddings there can be very formal and high society. The majority of the U.S.'s population is grossly uninformed of Arkansas' culture and class.
I agree with the person whom comment that you should find out the bridesmaid's dresses and also the bride's colors. You do not want to match the wedding unless you are going to be in the wedding. Also, confirm that it is formal. Wrap or tunic dresses in natural fibers in the $150 to $300 price range would work for just about any figure or spring wedding. Also, they are a great addition to any woman's wardrobe! I absolutely love them and they are very fashionable this spring! However, whatever you wear, do watch how much jewelry you put on. Nothing too large, complicated or tacky. Jewelry is essential to looking like a lady. Oh, and ya'll is most often spoken in a very sophisticated and classicly southern way. Do not snicker if you hear it being used for if you do, you will most certainly be made fun of. However, it's not as prominantly as you would think.
Anyhow, watch out for tacky patterns and florals. Try something more bold than pastel, stay away from lipstick reds, over-used metalics, and long sleeves unless you are cold blooded. April can be very tempermental and you should try to find something short-sleeved, cap-sleeved or sleeve-less and layer a shawl, balero jacket, wrap, or shrug (not the tie shruggs they are so tacky and three seasons ago!) over it.
Hair. Since it's inside you shouldn't really have to worry about wearing it up or down. However, if you have any curl to your hair the southern humidity will bring and frizz it out. So beware!
Last words of advice from an Arkansas native. Don't wear velvet, overly shiny material if you are rounder or vertical stripes if you are slimmer. Watch those hemlines! The shorter the skirt/dress the shorter the heel. Don't show too much cleavage! Don't wear all black. Remember an extra pair of panty hose, a few safety pins and your own hair products. Oh, and remember that this is the brides day and you are just there to celebrate it with her... not steal the show. Oh, but most of all remember to have fun and soak up the warm southern hospitality! It's a wonderful place to visit!!! Have fun and good luck!!!
Reply:Weather in Arkansas during April usually means alot of rain and humidity. i would suggest you wear pastel colors. Something flowing and airy. Also anything that would look good with a cardigan. Black and white is perfectly fitting in this situation as well, just keep in mind whether you thing the event is formal or informal when selecting your attire. Since your finance in wearing a tux and the ceremony is being held in a church that it is a formal occasion.
Reply:well, i would recommend your "big smith" overalls or head to toe camo.... seeing that it's arkansas and all.... oh yeah, make sure you have the skoal can imprint in your back pocket too...
Reply:Since it is an inside wedding, you will not be limited to any style of dress. Since it is an afternoon wedding, the dress need not be "formal" in length. You did say afternoon, so I would recommend a tea length dress, Black and white would be very sharp looking. However, if you want some really good ideas, look at wedding dress sites. and then look at "wedding party" dresses (not any of those frumpy bridesmaid dresses) . You might also look at some of the prom dresses that are being offered this spring. As far at the floral dresses, if that it what you want, go for it. I would suggest pastel or muted color.
Reply:April in Arkansas can be iffy on the weather front. I should know as I live in Little Rock.
Whatever you choose make sure you are comfortable. I would suggest wearing something that you can layer a sweater with - the weather around here is known to be freezing one day (in the low 50s) and warm the next (approaching the 80s).
If you're going to be in downtown either a black %26amp; white number or a floral number would be nice. I'm not big on florals and would personally choose a black/white number. The biggest thing to remember is to get something that you are comfortable in and like.
Reply:Wear a nice dress i been to that place (used to live in LR ) and its pretty formal reciptions there find out what the bridesmaids are wearing you dont want to dress like them. Have fun in LR its a great town, Davids Bridal you can rent a nice dress if you want to go that route
Reply:Overalls, Plaid Flannel shirt, straw hat and a corn cob pipe. You want to fit in don't you?
Reply:Saturday afternoon does not call for formal attire. A pastel floral print dress that is tea length should be very appropriate. I would select a flowing fabric rather than a stiff one.
Reply:tube top dresses are fun and can be dressed up with a cardigan. black and white is definitely ok since your date will be in a tux. there is a store called "White House/Black Market" with some really nice outfits. they will have everything from the dress to the sweater to accessories and shoes for you. have fun at the wedding.
Reply:It depends, are you going to be in the wedding? or just attending? That would be a big factor in deciding what to wear. Either way I would say do not go black and white, it's to cliche. You don't have to do floral prints, but go for light colors.
Reply:Hmmm, a few of these answers are having some fun with you. A few things to consider, if your fiance is in the wedding you'll be getting some attention as his future bride so you're right you do want to look extra good. Also, you'll be in a lot of photos that people will be looking at for years to come, so stay away from styles that might look dated. I might be wrong, but in Arkansas I think girls are into feminine, girlie things.
So here's my vote, first go to a hair salon and get the best cut you can. Get a good manicure. Wear an impeccably tailored pastel dress with a fitted sleeveless bodice and neckline just low enough to show some cleavage, and a full skirt at whatever length looks good on you without being too short, and a little jacket to cover up. Find a clutch bag that matches your dress. Get some sheer nylons and shoes that match the dress with 3" or 4" heels. Find a bra that makes you look sensational.
Reply:a summer dress or some daisey dukes
Reply:if its going to be warm enough you could wear a nice tube dress with a little half jacket and tie up shoes. the color and fit is up to you. have fun
Reply:A Nascar half shirt that exposes your pregnant belly and botched navel ring is always tasteful.
Nahhh, I'm just messin' witcha.
I'm a guy - No idea what you should wear.

Destination wedding on the whitsundays Whats the best way to go about organising it?
My fiance and I are planing on a weddingmoon possibly on daydream island. How do I start planning this. I am not sure where to start? Or how to get information and ideas? We are planing on it being in 2009 so people have plenty of time to save. How do we let people know now when we dont have any specific details yet as you dont book untill 12 months before? We decided at first on only inviting imediate family but things are starting to snowball .the few friends we mentioned the idea to said they would want to come, but if they are invited we will have to invite all our friends and Family? some (non imediate) family members can cause problems when thay are together and drink, we dont want our whole wedding/ honeymoon ruined but we cant just leave out the trouble makers or upset people. Help!!!!
Destination wedding on the whitsundays Whats the best way to go about organising it?
give save the date cards with information about where and when you are planning to have your event... there are troublemakers in every family/clan. One way to keep them safe and under control is to be sure that the alcohol is watered down and limited in scope (three types of coctails, beer and wine) and that the bar changes to soft drinks and non-alcoholic beer halfway into the night -- make sure there are great eats to munch on and good music to dance to. Another thing is to make sure that there is safe transportation back to the hotel at the end of the night... tell everyone in advance that this transportation is arranged for.
Reply:Funnily enough, I am doing the exact same thing and am having similar issues with who to invite..!
First things to do are choose a rough date (avoid Feb and March - it's the wet season!), and look at the wedding pack for the resort there - they can arrange the whole thing for you, which could help... or, if you're not sure about the costs etc, go to http://www.bridesonline.com.au and register - they have a free downloadable wedding planner which I have found to be fantastic and tells you when to do everything!
With regards to the family/friends thing - the only way we started to make decisions was to make a list and say - if we invited them, would we regret it more than not inviting them? Don't forget, it's YOUR day, not theirs, and if you can't be selfish at your wedding, when can you be? A dream wedding should stay that way, and not become a nightmare... be brave and only invite the people you really want there - tell everyone else who knows that you would really prefer to keep it very intimate and low key.
Good luck, and BE BRAVE - you won't regret it (o:

What color will match yellow for a wedding?
I found a great yellow dress for a wedding - but I don't know what color to get the shall, shoes and purse in. I can't wear white, any other pastel color will make me look like a little girl, black will make me look like a bumble bee - and I can't wear any dark color - it will stand out too much. I was thinking either cream, beige, khaki - something natural colored looking.. any better suggestions?
What color will match yellow for a wedding?
Go funky and get a bright colour shoe like fuschia or deep purple shoes. Green can go with yellow.... depends on the shade of yellow. Even red.
If you want to go traditional you can stick to cream, beige and khaki. Those are cool. I agree white and black are boring and don't go well.
Reply:My wedding colors were yellow, orange (not a yucky orange, just soft orange/peach) and off white. Beautiful all together. but for shoes and purse I would go with cream.
Reply:Defintley go with the cream thats the way to stay safe no bright colors and not lke a pink a light baby blue would look very good and u wouldnt looke lke a little gurl
Reply:light blue, white, light peach, pink, or navy blue.
Reply:Maybey pink- a pink that would match the same tone of your dress - like if its a pastel, get a pastel color etc.
Reply:Light pink will work maybe lavender and beige would be perfecta
Reply:hmm thats a hard one... i think cream or beige would look great!
Have fun and God Bless!
Reply:i know you said no dark colors, but brown always goes well with yellow. You could even look for a lighter brown...
Reply:not sure if this sound right but i;m thinking that there is yellow in a rainbow.. so maybe pick a color of that...
Reply:peach light light brown light blue watever you like
well Have fun and God Bless!
Reply:maybe silver?

What are good locations for an outdoor wedding in the Chicago-land area?
I am planning my wedding for the beginning of August in 2008. I would like an outdoor one but i need some ideas for good locations in or near near Chicago, preferably not out of state.
What are good locations for an outdoor wedding in the Chicago-land area?
I was in Chicago about 2 years ago and it was September I think. Anywho, the Lincoln Park Zoo has another park attached to it on the west side of the zoo. I mention the Lincoln Park Zoo because I know the name of it and the not the name of this other park. Well, it's really two parks kind of next to each other. Anywho, they have these huge gardens and grassy areas and within 2 hours, we saw 3 weddings in the same area. Plus there is a conservatory, I think that's what it's called, where they grow the different plants in the greenhouse thing. Very cool. It's the grounds attached to the LPZ %26amp; the Garfield Conservatory.
Actually, here's a link to all the Chicago area parks. They have loads of beautiful fountains too.

Reply:Chicago Botanic Gardens, Garfield Park
Reply:There are some nice locations by the Museum of Science that would be breezy in the August mugginess.
Reply:I attended a wedding on one of those ships in Lake Michigan - It was amazingly gorgeous. They got married at sunset with the city line behind them (I'm getting goosebumps remembering it). Plus, August is hot and gross in Chicago - the closer you are to the lake (or on the lake) the breezier and more pleasant it will be.

Does anyone know a recipe for Iranian wedding rice?
I went to an Iranian wedding years ago and the mothers had prepared some amazing varies of rices (savoury/sweet) I'd like to reproduce them but can't find anything like it on the net or in a book. Pity I didn't ask for the recipes at the time huh?
Does anyone know a recipe for Iranian wedding rice?
You didn't really provide any details (what kind of ingredients did the rice have, did it have meat/poultry, lentils, or that sort of details) but anyways... here's a website I found which has got Iranian recipes (rice, soups, desserts)
http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/F.Mo...
Hope this helps!
Reply:Buy some rice (Morrisons does a particularly good brand) and garnish with Iranian wedding ingredients.
Reply:Polo - Simple Persian Rice
Ingredients: (4 servings)
basmati or long-grain rice, 500 grams
cooking oil
salt
Directions:
The preparation of polo (or chelow) is more elaborate than normal and results in a delicious non-sticky rice. Persians consider making rice that is non-sticky an art form and a good cook should know how to do this as it is the staple of Persian Cuisine. Polo is normally served with kababs or any of the main dishes in this collection, unless rice is already used as one of the ingredients.
Wash rice twice and soak in salted warm water for 3-4 hours, then drain the water. Pour water in a large non-stick pan until it is half-full and bring it to a boil. Add rice and a spoonful of salt and continue boiling until rice slightly softens. Pour rice into a drain and wash it with slightly warm water.
Pour a few spoonfuls of cooking oil into the pan and add rice. Pour a few more spoonfuls of oil over rice. Cover the pan and cook over low heat for about half an hour. If cooking time is increased, a delicious crispy layer of rice (called ta-dig or tah-dig) will form at the bottom of the pan.
Zereshk Polo - Barberry Rice
Ingredients: (4 servings)
basmati or long-grain rice, 500 grams
chicken, 800 grams
cooking oil
butter
barberries (dried), four spoons
sugar, one spoon
onions, two large
saffron, 1/2 teaspoon
salt and pepper
Directions:
Remove the skin from chicken pieces. Marinate chicken in grated onions, salt and pepper for 4-5 hours.
Cook rice using the recipe given for polow or kateh.
Wash barberries twice with cold water and drain the water. Add sugar and fry in butter over medium heat for about five minutes.
Pour saffron in a small bowl. Pour in 2-3 spoons of hot water and mix. Fill the bowl with rice and mix well. Add saffron-rice and barberries to the rest of the rice and mix well.
Cook chicken under grill for 15-20 minutes turning each piece a few times during cooking. Serve with barberry-rice.
Shirin Polo - Sweet Rice
Ingredients: (4 servings)
basmati or long-grain rice, 500 grams
chicken, 800 grams
cooking oil
butter, 2 spoons
almonds, 50 grams
pistachios, 50 grams
orange peel, 100 grams
large onions, two
sugar, 500 grams
saffron, 1/2 teaspoon
salt and pepper

Baghali Polo- Meaty Lima Bean Dill Rice
Ingredients
500 g (1 lb) Basmati long grain rice
500 g (1 lb) meat or chicken
375 g (12 oz) dill
150 g (5 oz) dried lima beans (or a 16 oz can)
1 medium onion 1/3 cup oil
1/4 tsp ground saffron
salt and pepper
Directions:
After washing the rice thoroughly, soak the rice in salted lukewarm water to cover by 2 inches for 3 to 4 hours. Trim the meat of all fat, cut into small pieces (2 inch cubes), wash and drain. Slice the onion and fry in a little oil until it turns golden brown. Add the meat, salt and pepper and cook over low heat until the meat is well done, 45 minutes to an hour.
Clean and wash the dill cutting out coarse stems, dry and chop finely. If you use dried beans, then cook them until they are soft. In a large saucepan, bring 8 to 12 cups of water to a rapid boil. Pour off excess water from rice and pour into boiling water. Bring back to boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Test to see if the rice is ready. The grains should be firm in the center and rather soft on the outside. Add the beans right before you strain the rice. Strain and rinse with lukewarm water. Toss gently in the strainer.
Bring 1/4 cup water and 2 to 3 tbs oil to rapid boil. Add layers of rice and dill interchangeably and pieces of the meat randomly while building the rice and dill layers up to a dome shape. Poke 5 or 6 holes through the rice to the bottom with the handle of a spoon. Close the lid. Keep on medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes until rice is steaming. Heat up 1/4 cup of water and 2 tbs oil and pour over the rice. Wrap the saucepan lid in a clean tablecloth and cover the pan firmly. Reduce heat to low and cook for 45 minutes to an hour. After removing from heat, place the saucepan in the sink and run cold water under it to cool down.
Add 1/4 tsp saffron to 1 tbs hot water. Lightly mix 2 to 3 tbs of rice with the liquid saffron in a small bowl. Set it aside for garnish. To dish up, gently toss the rice and sprinkle lightly in a dish in a symmetrical mound. Garnish with the saffron rice. Remove the crusty bottom and serve in a separate plate.
Kateh - Smothered Rice
Ingredients: (4 servings)
basmati or long-grain rice, 3 cups
salt
cooking oil
Directions:
Kateh is normally served with kababs or any of the main dishes in this collection, unless rice is already used as one of the ingredients. Kateh is simpler to cook than polo. We recommend you make Polo when time allows and skip kateh all together which is regarded as a simpler and less delicious rice. Your stews should be served over polo.
Wash three cups of rice with plain water twice and drain the water. Pour rice into a non-stick pan. Add five cups of water, four spoons of oil and two spoons of salt, and mix. Bring the water to a boil over high temperature. Let the water boil until water level sinks to just below rice level. Cover the pan, and cook over low temperature for about half an hour.

What amount of money is appropriate to give for a wedding gift?
My boss is having her wedding soon and I felt bad to decline because I was not going to attend her bridal shower. She didn't register because apparently its Chinese tradition to give money instead of gifts. I think anything less than $100 is inappropriate and rude for a wedding gift, but I feel $100 or more is too much for someone who I only work with. Any advice?
What amount of money is appropriate to give for a wedding gift?
According to the etiquette books, what you can afford is all that's neccessary for the gift of money. That and a nice card will suffice.
Reply:Money in amounts of 8 is good $88 and in a red envolope. It is a little less then a $100 and it will be right in with the Chinese tradition.
Reply:Money weddings are the easiest to handle for me, as I'm use to them, my husband is Italian and that's what they do.
Take your cheque book with you and buy a card, then when you see what your meal is calculate what it costs for the meal and write the cheque to cover the cost of the meal and a token amount on top to help the couple get started in their new life.
As it's a boss and not a friend the token amount does not need to be much just make sure you give at least enough to cover the meal, slip it in the card and on your way to the washroom slip the card in the gift box.
Reply:For close friends and family give $50 to $100.
For bosses, give no more than $20. Why,? because bosses should not expect employees to give too much. Bosses are the ones with money, employees are the ones who are on tight budgets. That's the rationale.
Reply:If she feels that $100 is not enough, then she is absolutely ungrateful. I just got married in March and anyone who gave me a gift of any amount was truely appreciated....including those who just sent a card!!!
Reply:I see your dilemma. I'd go with what the first answerer suggested.
Reply:Give her a card Inviting her out to dinner after she settles in.
Reply:Send a card with a nice, heartfelt message in it as well as 100 dollars.
Reply:Do you know your boss as a friend? If so, you should give what you can comfortably afford. If not, the invitation may just be a ploy to get more gifts,so, why would you want to attend? Save your money and your spare time on people you really care about-and who care about you.
No respected etiquette adviser says that a gift is mandatory-let alone a gift of $100 or more! According to Miss Manners (aka Judith Martin) the only occasions where a gift is mandatory are showers (wedding or baby) and birthday parties for children under 16, where opening the gifts is part of the entertainment.
But, people do expect something at a wedding; if you go, give an amount that is comfortable for you. Unfortunately, your boss knows how much you earn; but unless she is a good friend, she doesn't know all of your expenses.
In short: a good friend won't care if you can't go all out; if the reason you're there is to sweeten the pot, I don't see why you'd want to go at all.

Reply:If it is straight, I would put some curls in it. I always think curls is romantic. Since it a day for love, why not. Perhaps add curls, put up one side with a comb or pin it up with flowers or something sparkly. Be sure it is something that will stay put even after you boogie down on the dance floor!
Reply:Loosely pin the front with bobby pins, and softly curl the rest. Maybe curl with a round brush so the curls dont look too perfect. Keep the side bangs.
Reply:no u shouldn't do anything out of the ordinary
as long as ur hair looks well kept
Reply:it depends on your face shape. if you want to look taller put your hair up and add some curl hanging on the sides. back if you want leave it down or up.this will give you longer neck also wear earrings hanging down and v shape necklace
Reply:ok dont make ur hair into something ur not? if u wear ur hair up updo but buter u wear ur hair down down do but nice wth sparklek? normal but cute
Reply:a tight bun, or halfway up. It really depends, are you in the wedding, or just going?
You can curl your hair, then pull it into a low pony tail to the side/back of your head(but do not tie it) and start to braid it. Then take the braid and twist and fold it in half and secure it with a pony tail/bobby pins.
Reply:Curl it with hot curlers.
Reply:well it depends if the wedding is very fancy or kinda casual.
if it is fancy....do your hair in a elegant bun.
if it is casual.....put your hair in a ponytail, leaving two strands of hair in front of your face, then take a clip and clip your hair. Then sorta fluff the back....maybe curl it alittle....then apply hairspay.
How should I do my hair? It's dirty blonde, a tiny bit below my shoulders, and I have side bangs. Help?
How to do my hair for a wedding?
ask your hair dresser!
Reply:Have you tried banana curls, very lightly, my hair is about your length, a little below the shoulders, its looks really cute. trust me, and maybe pick up these little clips that you put sparsely in ur hair. We did that for my sisters friends wedding. It Looked absolutely gorgeous!
GOOD LUCK!
Reply:tight bun with curled tendrils coming down
Reply:If it is straight, I would put some curls in it. I always think curls is romantic. Since it a day for love, why not. How do you avoid spam when doing wedding stuff on line?
Ok I have recieved alot of good answers on how to avoid porn site e mails but it leaves me with one more question.I am planning my wedding.I do alot of the planning and get alot of my ideas on line.Due to the fact that I need responses back how can I do this carefully w/o giving the world my e-mail address?
How do you avoid spam when doing wedding stuff on line?
What I did to avoid this during my wedding planning is opened up a new e-mail account specifically for my wedding planning. I could give it out without worrying about spam going to my usual e-mail, I also entered about 50 contest for free honeymoon, dress, accessories give-a-ways (which prompt a lot of spam). Or I could e-mail myself wedding ideas to this account and keep them safe there.
At the end of it all, I just stopped using the account, unless I see a contest I really want to enter and now use it for a junk mail account, freeing up my "daily life" account.

What are the requirements for renting a house for a wedding?
My dream wedding is to rent a house in orange county california somewhere with a rather large backyard for my wedding. There would be at least 150 guests. What are the requirements? Do i have to alert the city, the neighbors, would parking be a problem? Please someone advise. Thanks! Michelle
What are the requirements for renting a house for a wedding?
Individual houses rental policies are determined by the owner or the agency you are renting through.
Call a vacation rental agency and see if they have any houses that would meet those requirements.
Many owners put a limit on how many people can be present in the house due to noise regulations in the neighborhood and the destructive nature of large parties. However agencies usually have a cleaning service cost included in the rental cost which would be a good idea.
They will also know if that particular city has a requirement on renting offduty policemen--mandatory for many parties with large numbers and alcohol served.
Do you care if it is beach front or not? You can get much cheaper if it isn't beach front.
Hope this helps somewhat--but really the rules vary greatly for each vacation rental company.

What music was played at an Elizabethan wedding?
I am doing a project and I need to know what kind of music was played at an Elizabethan wedding. I am not able to use any information from Wikipedia.
What music was played at an Elizabethan wedding?
Your question pre-supposes that Elizabethan churches and weddings were like modern ones, which would be an incorrect starting point.
Firstly, churches at the time were very plain and without much furniture - certainly there was nothing for the congregation to sit on so everyone had to stand.
The wedding service would be conducted by a minister who was almost illiterate (he would have no knowledge of Latin for example) and the whole ceremony would be very sombre. No music would be played because in most cases there was nothing to play it on - very few churches had an organ at this time.
The festivities would take place before and after the ceremony - bride and groom might be accompanied to and from the church by a procession of family and friends, garlanded with flowers and dancing with musicians playing various instruments. The music would be traditional folk-songs, not church music.
Reply:I quote from Liza Picard's "Elizabeth's London":
"The party sometimes began before the happy couple even got to the church, and the drunken guests turned up half way through the sermon 'in all manner pomp and pride, and gorgeousness of raiment and jewels. They come with a great noise of harps, lutes, kits [miniature violins], basens [a kind of drum] and drums', and went back to their drinking and feasting as soon as the service was over. After a while the party moved to somewhere they could dance, and 'there is such a lifting up and discovering of the damsel's clothes and of other women's apparel that a man might [if he were a reformer, like the writer] think all these dancers ... were sworn to the devil's dance... ' After more dancing the happy but exhausted couple was escorted to the matrimonial bed with rude songs."
I think the music would have been popular songs of the time, and improvisations.
Someone may well correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that about 150 years or so previously, weddings were conducted at the lych gate of the church, not in the church itself. I'm not sure if this was still the custom in Elizabethan times.
Reply:They had a piano like instrument called the Virginals, and a guitar like instrument called the lute. However, marriage was a solemn occasion, and short of trumpeters, I know of no evidence that they had music in church, even choral music.

Reply:I reckon having pink tips - like a french manicure but instead of white use pink.
Maybe buying some nail art products from the store. Or buy glitter then covering your whole nail in clear nail polish.

What type of gift should I take to a Turkish wedding?
My family and I have been invited to a Turkish wedding? What should I wear? Is it appropriate to take a gift? Please advise on Turkish wedding tradition.
What type of gift should I take to a Turkish wedding?
Gold. A coin or a bracelet will do.
There will be lots of kids and noise,be prepared. And when they catch your arm and pull to the stage to dance, you should first tell them " fakat ben pek anlamam", means that you don't know how to dance that way, but eventually you should go and dance. That's a tradition :D
Have fun.
Reply:Gold, we don't accept anything else :)
Seriously, we have these gold coins which are sold in every jewelry shop which cost between 30 $ to 200 $. The size depends on how close to you to the family or the couple. A 'quarter size' coin will be suitable for you, I believe.
Dress like you are going to a wedding; for man; suit and tie, for woman; nice cocktail dress or suit.
The tradition for the guests are; do as the others do . Don't say "no" to anything :)
Reply:As above said, golden coins, necklaces or bracelets. It isn't a good idea to be too stingy with it, as sooner or later you will be on the receiving end of gold and what goes around comes around. :)
Don't worry about the dancing. Just raise your arms like everybody does and make swaying movements. That will pass as an acceptable dance.
Reply:I agree with Leprechaun nobody else but Leprechaun.

How much do you think is reasonable to pay for a centerpiece for a wedding?
My best friend is getting married in Tobago and we're organizing the wedding from the US - but we have no idea how much we should budget for a centerpiece. Is $100 TT too much or too little?
How much do you think is reasonable to pay for a centerpiece for a wedding?
Check out www.flowerlinetnt.com
They're local and they deliver.
100 TT is pittance though... maybe you should budget like about 200-250 US for an extremely glam centrepiece.
In any event... once you check out the site... you can easily call them and they'll help with ideas as well as help you stick within your budget
Reply:I think you can make a nice centerpiece at almost any budget. Between flowers, shells pebbles, candles...it all depends on the look you're trying to achieve. If you're coming from the US, perhaps pick up a few items you think might come in handy. Google your ideas that you have for the wedding and see which supplies you can get at home (as you may not find them in Tobago). Whether it's a specific colour in ribbon, or if you're using faux flowers/leaves. Good luck.
Reply:This is too little. Not for a good centrepiece. Your starting price is around 200 US. The higher the price the better the creation should be. It also depends on what type of centrepiece. I'm referring to ice sculptures and food carvings.
Reply:What kind of a centerpiece? Floral arrangement, Ice carving, food, etc. You will get better answers if you specify what your idea of a centerpiece will be.
Good Luck
Reply:Hi i dont thing you would spent too much, about $100TT is good enought at lease for a centerpiece. To be sure i realy dont know much about centerpiece but would be glad to help.Robertha

What should an 8 year old wear to an beach wedding?
Its in a very hot country, i was thinking a light linen shirt with linen shorts to match. Or should it be the traditional wedding attire, booted and suited with waistcoat and cravat?
He has no significant role in the wedding, just invited as a guest. I need an smart outfit, thats not going to look to casual at the same time not ott.
What should an 8 year old wear to an beach wedding?
Linen trousers and a short sleaved linen shirt all in white. Looks smart and will help keep him cool.
Reply:just a boy's suit or tux. they look soooooo cute dressed up!
Reply:I'd go with the linen outfit!! It sounds really nice!! And there is nothing worse then having an 8 year old complaining they are hot!!
Reply:Since he's not in the wedding party I don't think you need to worry too much other then keeping him cool. I like the shorts %26amp; shirt idea but linen can be itchy %26amp; scratchy especially to an 8 year old.
You should be able to find lightweight shorts %26amp; short sleeved shirt in a cotton mix that will be much more comfortable for him. You can also put a skinny tie on him to dress it up a bit more. I really don't think the colour would matter either. Khaki can be dressed up just as smartly (and he could wear it again) !!
Reply:Oh if the little boy was a little girl - so much easier!!
But i don't think he should wear shorts - its a wedding, how about some beautiful linen trousers and maybe a light shirt?
I dont really know, im a auntie not a mum :(
Reply:Just remember that linen can crease very easily, it might be better to get a cotton mix linen so that it holds it shape a bit more.
I agree with the previous poster that he should be kept cool so that he enjoys the ceremony.
Reply:It depends on how formal the wedding party is dressed. At my beach wedding my 10 year old wore a navy hibiscus print aloha shirt with tan linen shorts and we all went bare foot. I've also been to weddings on the beach wear the guests wore suits and cocktail dresses. If in doubt ask the bride what she would prefer. After all it is her wedding and I'm sure she will know what she would want everyone to wear.

What are the good websites for budget wedding planning?
I am doing the knot and a book, martha steward wedding planner. The knot is good because you can plug in information and keep tack of bills. Martha is good because you have a ton of lose papers you need to deal with!!

Reply:theknot.com has a budget planner. You type in your budget, and how many attendants you have. Then it calculates it for you (based on an average). They say 50% of the budget goes to the reception so it bases it off of things like that. You can then change items, add items and delete items. I was using this until my wedding planner gave me a copy of some software and I made a detailed description of each cost. It was very helpful.

Where is the best place for a wedding reception for 30 people in Las Vegas?
We dont mind if it is a sit down meal or just finger food.
The wedding will be mid Septmber.
Somewhere with a balcony will be great.
Thanks for your help!

hi there - congratulations! It really depends on your budget - we had our wedding reception at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel which was great, and we also had a 'meet and greet' at the Aladdin buffet (as it was then - it's now Planet Hollywood) which everyone really enjoyed.
The website below lets you browse reception venues with fixed price menus in Las Vegas (useful for budgeting). Good luck!

If you're looking for someplace with a view, how about the Top of the World Restaurant at the Stratosphere

At sunset, 900ft above the city it's quite a view. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees once per hour.
You might want to think about one of the great buffets in Las Vegas.

Our favorite buffet is the Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station - The room is spectacular, the food is just as good and the price is very reasonable. %26gt;I have seen many receptions, held at this one, the room is very large and they can give you an area all to yourselves%26lt;

Green Valley Ranch is another buffet I would recommend for your purpose.
Bellagio would be another

Reply:Don't listen to Jack. There's merit in his advice but there is nothing tackier than having a wedding reception at a buffet.
As a native and local I can attest that my family, friends, and others in the buffet mock the attending reception.
It looks cheap and ruins the intimacy of the wedding reception.

If you're looking for someplace with a view, how about the Top of the World Restaurant at the Stratosphere

At sunset, 900ft above the city it's quite a view. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees once per hour.
You might want to think about one of the great buffets in Las Vegas.

Our favorite buffet is the Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station - The room is spectacular, the food is just as good and the price is very reasonable. %26gt;I have seen many receptions, held at this one, the room is very large and they can give you an area all to yourselves%26lt;
