Can I use digital camera for my wedding picture and expect the good quality of photos?

I am under a tight budget, but, would like to have at least a nice wedding photo.

Since I've heard so many stories of bad pictures done by professionals, and they are so expense, I am thinking just using a digital camera.

And can you help me with tips to maximized the quality when taking picture with it?

Can I use digital camera for my wedding picture and expect the good quality of photos?
Hello:

Try this site.

A couple of things you need to remember. The higher the DPI (dots per inch), the fewer photos your card can hold. Next, if your photo is 1800 DPI, but your output device (printer) is only 300 DPI, the photo will only be 300 DPI.

I would take the photos with the highest DPI available and then take them to a professional photoshop to have the developed. Many shops like this will print your images onto regular photo paper and you can tell them ahead of time which images you want printed.

Good luck.
Reply:Hello:

I just purchased on of those "one-shot" cameras from Wal-Mart. I took it back, had them developed, and for a few dollars more, the photos were placed on a CD and I was able to send photos over the Internet. Good luck and God Bless your union. Report It

Reply:Don't expect professional quality from your shoot. Go with a friend and scope out the places the wedding and reception will take place. Take pictures of your friend to capture the light conditions. You might have to play around with the settings and maybe add additional strobes. You can also have others help you take pictures at the reception by placing disposable cameras on the table and let them shoot.
Reply:wedding is the most memorable moment of life. A person shud make these moments long lasting n for this reasons he portrayes the events.

I think if "professionals" have not done their job well then they are not the professionals. Also think that who is gonna use ur digital camera. Can he be able to create a magic.

the moral of the story is that : GIVE AN OTHER CHANCE TO A REAL PROFESSIONAL
Reply:Do yourself a favor and hire a professional for the job. There maybe times where some professionals cannot deliver what people expect from them. But for sure you WILL NOT get what you want if you don't hire a professional for the job.
Reply:I seriously suggest you keep asking around until you find an affordable pro you like. There's much more to it than just the gear.

* If you ask a friend/ relative to shoot your wedding, they'll be running around all day as the official photographer, not as a guest.

* A pro has a list of 'must-get' shots that a novice might not think about (or remember on the day). Pros also have a knack for directing people in order to get those shots. This is required even for a photo-journalist style of coverage.

* A pro should have no trouble finding great locations and poses for the formals.

* A pro should have a good eye and a great understanding of his gear. Even so, they generally take +1000 shots and only show you the best 400.

* After you pick the shots you'd like for your book, pros that work with digital spend a few more hours tweaking the final selection in Photoshop. (Add time and completely different skills.)

* As for the gear, you'll want a (digital) SLR with expensive, fast lenses and a good flash system, a backup for every item, and a ton of batteries and film/ memory cards.

So if you do ask a friend for the job, be realistic and precise about what you expect from him/ her!
Reply:I am sure the digital pics will be fine. The way cameras have been upgraded and how they have come a long way. Just practice shooting pics from distance, close up, etc. This will help with the wedding day so no one will have to guess.
Reply:Just use the highest mexapixel camera you can get your hands on and put it on a tripod and use good lighting.
Reply:yes you can. make sure it has over 3.5 megapixels. a zoom feature and preview a plus. you allso need to see how well it works in bright situations, pending if it will be outside. also see how much storage comes with the camera..dont get stuck with just 12 photos when it needs extra memory storage. also you can either print out your photos or take them to walmart and have them print them for you.
Reply:If you use a standard digital camera (4-5 Megapixels) you won't have good enough quality to really reprint quality photos. A lab may tell you that you can get 8 x 10 out of it on the highest setting, but you can't hope for anything better.

If you have a digital SLR, a 11 Megapixel or higher, you should be able to get good photos yourself, set on the highest setting.

If you're not sure - see if a local college has a photography student that is willing to help you for a discount price - you will probably still get excellent shots. .

What is the flat frosting on fancy wedding cakes called?

There are a lot of modern wedding cakes with a flat, fancy looking frosting. It is smooth.. what is this called, and is there a recipe available?

What is the flat frosting on fancy wedding cakes called?
It's called Rolled Fondant, and it's made with glucose, powdered sugar, and corn syrup. You can find recipes online or buy it pre-made at craft and specialty stores, such as A.C. Moore or Michaels.

Fondant doesn't have the best flavor, but it is wonderful for decorating because it can be cut, shaped and molded, plus when it's rolled out and laid over a cake, it makes the cake nice and flat and smooth, with a texture that ordinary buttercream icing cannot provide.
Reply:its called Fondant

generally people don't care too much for the flavor...its quite bland....

being a cake decorator, if i have to use Fondant for a cake to get a smooth sheen look, I use Marshmallow Fondant...which IMHO tastes much better and is easier to make...

marshmallows

water

and powdered sugar....
Reply:Fondant. I was intimated by it at first but have been experimenting with it for a few years now. It can be colored, flavored, shaped, smoothed, etc. I usually buy mine (made by Wilton) at Wal-Mart because it's $1-2 cheaper there than at Michael's. It's also very pretty when used with luster %26amp; petal dusts for flowers %26amp; details. I just ordered some Satin Ice brand but haven't used it yet.
Reply:I think what you are talking about is rolled fondant. I have no idea where to get a recipe, I normally see it sold in stores, like Joann's or Michael's, in the cake decorating section.
Reply:Fondant:

16 ounces mini-marshmallows

2 to 5 tbsp water

2 lbs C%26amp;H cane powdered sugar

1/2 cup Crisco

Good Luck!! Hope this helps.
Reply:If you're talking about the frosting that can be draped over a cake, I think it's called fondant.

How do I plan the perfect wedding for a friend?

My friend is a 28 year old woman who deserves the best wedding. However she is on a tight budget. Please help me find put her wedding together wedding date is the 4th of July 2007.

How do I plan the perfect wedding for a friend?
I was on a super tight wedding budget but ended up looking like I had spent a fortune! The best thing to do is prioritise the things that you DO want to splash out on first like dress or transport. Then after that you just find the cheapest option for everything else.

For example have a friend take the photos, bake the cake, arrange flowers, do her hair and make up, as those are the things you don't really notice if they haven't been done by a professional.

I got my flowers done by a local college who ran a floristry course and so they sold flowers dirt cheap because it's good practice for their students.

The most expensive thing is probably the reception. I had mine in a local restaurant, which was really classy but far less expensive than typical wedding venues.

Most of all the personal touch is what makes a wedding really special. The thing people remember most from ours is a dance we planned with the wedding party for travelling back up the aisle to 'You're Just too Good to Be True'. Having friends sing a special song, write a special poem etc. are the things that make your heart burst on that special day.
Reply:Well find a friend or go to the internet on wedding planning./
Reply:A beach-themed wedding (even if you live no-where near an ocean) is always great in the summer! The colors could be white (or off-white) and a caribbean light blue... at the reception, have each table's centerpiece be a glass bowl filled with sand and seashells and little tea light candles.

Have fun!
Reply:What is "the best wedding"? Whose standard is being used? You know that saying "you can't please all the people all the time"? It's relevant here.

Weddings are kind of a chore. Lots of money and really, ultimately, pragmatically speaking, they are NOT for the bride and groom. You can try to make them for you, but it's two against however many are on your invite list. A wedding is a show that is put on for the benefit of the audience (whose approval is solicited presumably by the fact that you are having this wedding and invited them). So by having a wedding, you are basically planning a big show with you and your partner (or your friend and her partner) as the stars and let me tell you, EVERYONE is a critic.

So weddings can be very stressful on brides at least. They would be more so on grooms I suspect if more grooms were more clued in to social stuff. But even the socially clueless are subject to secondary stress of watching their little buttercup melt down with increasing frequency as the date approaches.

Therefore, if you want a wedding for her to actually ENJOY, don't look for the picture perfect Martha Stewart/someone else's definition of perfect/best/mostest wonderfulest thing. Look for what fits her tastes, what makes her life easier, what can be made low stress with little money while still having the elements she requires for it to feel special and having lots of opportunities for her to just relax and enjoy herself.

I personally recommend eloping or having an extremely small ceremony then throwing a big huge less formal party/reception after. Could be weeks after, days after, whatever. But after and separate. A big plus for eloping is that no one feels more left out than anyone else. It also circumvents the whole divorced parent crap if there is any of that. Another is that it asserts the couple's independence from their families which sometimes really needs to be asserted around age 28. A negative is that iit will probably piss off some people. But if they are so easily offended they can't be calmed or reassured in advance with a sensitive and caring explanation (and with a promise of a special role for them in the reception), they would have been pissed off at a wedding ceremony too. You know the type - not happy about where they stood at the wedding, why they didn't get to read from Corinthians, or why their kid wasn't a flower girl.

Here's a specific suggestion that fits with the elope/small ceremony and reception later idea. BTW, please feel free to discard it or ignore it entirely or in parts if your friend is really a I want a big fat wedding type (in which case the nicest thing you can do for her would be to bring valium).

A 4th of July reception date lends itself quite well for a big friends and family picnic in a park (pick one with a gazebo, see if the gazebo can be reserved). You can look into whether or not a caterer will do a picnic/bbq type event outdoors or you could commit several good friends to agree to cook and bring picnic/bbq food potluck style. More formal, get a tent, hire a band, have a real receptiony type reception (you can still have friends cook just shhhhh about it).

Reply:Well, my daughter is getting merry too and I have been shopping on e-bay for most of the things. Go there and you will find on wedding section lots of beautiful thing and on very low prices. www.ebay.com
Reply:dont do it they will hate you for ever
Reply:i had a tight budget too, you just have to really look around, be creative, we did it on $6000.00, and it was GREAT, you have to work with what you got!!!!
Reply:I am planning my wedding at the moment for October next year and everyone keeps giving me the same piece of advise - spend money on the things that are most important to you first (ie. making sure you get a good photographer to capture your memories of the day) and then spend less on the least important things or get people to donate things as your wedding preset (ie; has someone got a really nice car they could drive you to the wedding in? Is anyone good at baking and could make your cake for you? Is there anyone who is creative that could do your invites/flowers?).

Your true friends will all pitch in to help to make it such a special day - its all about utilising theire talents to make it the best possible day.

Good luck for next year!
Reply:get her tattooed up...spiders webs on the elbows...the whole shooting match.
Reply:go to the library and find a book on wedding planning
Reply:first of all why are you planning her wedding?

The most important thing is to get a decent photographer, don't pinch the pennies by leaving it to family and friends the quality can be really poor, and cannot be guarenteed.

A beautiful dress, and a reception everything else is a bonus
Reply:the main thing you have to consider is how many guests there will be at the ceremony and at the reception as this determines where you can have both. if you are able to accommodate them in the local village hall / town hall / bowling club etc instead of paying for a pricey hotel, then that will make a dramatic difference to the total cost.

if you can involve the guests by getting each of them to do/provide something then this keeps costs down too. do they have friends in a band? dressmakers? bakers? that way you can offer to supply the raw materials but the chances are high that the friends would prefer you accepted their contribution as their wedding gift.

also, you can get loads of items on ebay. practically anything you can think of and they're not all second hand...check out the ebay shops. because they're selling directly to the customer they have little overheads so they can offer you a decent price for products and services that are just as good (sometimes better!) than you can buy in the high street.

and don't forget handmade invitations, decorations and favours are not only less expensive...they're personal which is so much better than mass produced items.

for really good ideas in the uk, including all legal info, check out: www.confetti.com
Reply:First of all, find out what she wants from her wedding day. What her hopes and dreams are (or always have been) then try to find economical ways of putting these dreams into reality. You will end up asking everyone you know for things like 'do you fancy videoing....' 'you know your lovely classic car......' 'you know you did that flower arranging course....''you know that lovely dress you made.....'. Dont forget local knowledge and sources as well as the internet. (oh, and when you search for things on the internet, don't use the words wedding, marry, bride, groom etc... they bump the prices up to 3x the worth!) I have just helped my friend trough her wedding day. She had various friends do the different jobs and only employed 2 professionals - the photographer and the registrar! My main job was keeping her calm, doing all the running around %26amp; telephoning - oh and making the dresses, cravats, hankies, bags etc.... her mother made the cake, her friend did the flowers, we did the tables %26amp; settings ourselves, a friend loaned a car, another friend loaned a motorbike for the groom, her step-mum designed the stationery which we printed ourselves at around 1/30th of the cost of buying them (that way ge had the place settings etc to match) her father videoed, his step-father etitted and cut dvds.... the list goes on..... it is amasing what people will do for a wedding if you are well organised and ask in plenty of time. get started, look at the wedding websites for ideas, go to the wedding shows - but don't buy anything! good luck, you are going to have so much fun!
Reply:theknot.com is a great resource! Also, check out your local library and bookstores for books on planning on a tight budget! There are lots of resources. Also, try doing a search for wedding on a budget websites as many others have come before you in doing the same thing! Best piece of advice I can give is hurry up and decide on your venue/location and get that date locked in!
Reply:Find out what she and the groom likes and dislikes, than go to the library and work from what you have. Do they like formal? Informal?Traditional? Intimate? So many things to choose from, just remember there will always be one person that will disagree on something, you can never make everyone happy! But just remember to Have Fun!!

Any advise to past on, what kind of special equipment should I get 1st? Anything would help me out right now as I am trying to get into the bussiness. Thank you

What do I need to start my wedding photographer business?
I agree with the first poster.

What you need, after the camera of course, is experience!

Without experience, you won't be able to sell your services to very many people. You'll need to have a portfolio of past work you have done to show your prospective clients what you are able to do. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to have a portfolio filled with only wedding shots. But keep in mind, if your portfolio is biased on a particular location (indoors ONLY or outdoors ONLY) or subject that is not so good either. Have a range of different people, places, things and lighting. I'd still suggest having weddings in there too, but other non-wedding related work is nice too. (There are some photographers I would love to have hired but they lived to far away, but I loved their portfolios, even though they didn't do weddings professionally or at all.)

Yes, there are also a lot of books out there that can help you, but they will only do so much. You'll still need to put all that reading into actual use. As for taking college classes to help fine tune your skills, that is fine too, but a lot of college courses are geared towards artistic photography. I guess it depends on how you want to go about with your wedding photography--do you want to be more of an artistic photographer or journalistic (which seemed rather popular while I was looking for a photographer).

Just keep practicing and build your portfolio. Talk with current wedding photographers and ask how they got started. Ask people to refer you. Get out there in the wedding commuinity and make a name for yourself. It will happen for you!

Good luck and best wishes.

Good manners. Good profesional dress. Don't show up in jeans at someones wedding! Just don't dress better than the groom, bride, mother, dad and such.
Reply:Get a medium format camera, 6cmx6cm, 6x7, or somthing, work for an apprenticeship with a wedding photographer and when you know what you are doing, go out and do it.

Weddings are a pain in the butt! I would not do them. The bride and her mother always find fault and sometimes you don't get paid. Things can end up in court.

Event photography for corporations might be easier.
Reply:Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:

Good Luck!
Reply:1. You need some experience. You can get it by offering to assist other photographers FOR FREE. Learn from them - how to pose the bride, the groom, etc, How to flow from one pose into another, how to pose groups of people. Usually after a while they will let you take some of the photographs. If you can't find a photographer who is willing to train you, start going to weddings with your camera. Pretend to be a friend of the bride or the groom. Pay attention to how the hired photographer sets things up. After the photographer has posed and taken his shots he will often let family and friends benefit from his posing expertise.

2. After you have some experience and an album of great wedding photographs (learn to call them photographs and not "pictures"), LEARN HOW TO SELL.

3. Join your local or state PPofA. subscribe to Rangefinder Magazine. Find out when the big names are holding seminars in your area and go to them. If you can go to a Monte Zucker, Dennis Reggie, Charles Lewis, Dean Collins, Clay Blackmore seminar - GO. You will learn art and you will learn to SELL. If they say "do this" - DO IT regardless of how goofy it sounds.

4. Build a network of referral sources. Offer free photographs to brides who recommend you to friends. 4 free 8x10's represent under ten dollars investment to you, but to the referring bride it's $60 to $100 worth of photographs and it could mean $500 - $600 - $700 or more dollars to you in possible sales.

5. Be innovative and try new things, but remember, the photographs you will sell the most of are the ones of family and friends usually taken right after the ceremony and before the reception. These are your Bread and Butter. FORSAKE THEM NOT!
Reply:A portfolio would be nice. Other clients will want to see your work. The first thing I asked the photographer when I hired him for my wedding was if I could see some of his previous work. If you have any friends getting married on a tight budget, offer to shoot their wedding for free if you can use the pictures in your portfolio. Tell them you will only charge them the cost of the prints without a markup (if you don't print them yourself).

Are you experienced at photography? If you aren't, definitely take some classes at community college or an adult learning center, even if it's not for credit. Then you can learn about the latest equipment and techniques. As for the business end, there are tons of books on starting your own business at your local library or on Amazon.

How do you remove stains from a wedding dress?

I have a beautiful wedding dress that has some stains on it. I would like to give to someone else that can use it, but it has some stains on it from dirt and maybe some food. I am not sure how long they have been there, as the dress was given to me. How can I safely remove the stains?

How do you remove stains from a wedding dress?
I used to work in the bridal industry, so I know that stains are hard to address. First, we need to know what type of fabric the gown is. Most bridal fabrics (silks, satins, taffetas and chiffons) will water spot with anything that is put on the stain. In the bridal shop that I worked at, we would work carefully with our fabric steamer, iron and Woolite detergent to work out the stain. We would put a very small amount of Woolite on a clean white wash cloth with a bit of cold distilled water and work that into the stain. After working the detergent into the spot, we would take a fabric steamer and iron to the dress to steam and press out the water spot until the dress was dry. If the Woolite left a bit of a residue spot, we would work the distilled water into the spot and take the steamer and iron to it to work it out. This may not work for the type of dress that you have, so I might suggest to you to try these techniques on the hem of the dress where a water spot may not be as noticable. To be safe, take the dress to a professional dry cleaner, although there are no guarantees that dry cleaning will take the stains out either. Hope this information helps!
Reply:Go to a specialty Mexican shoppe. There they will sell you a bar of soap (pink) labeled "Zote" . It should cost about 1.90 or 2 dollars.

Take it home, wet down the dirty section of the dress and rub the bar over it until there are bubbles/suds. Rinse and repeat.

Cleaning one area should take no more than 5 - 10 minutes.

If the food stains have grease in them: wet, rub with Zote, and allow to dry in the sun. Wet, rub with soap, and scrub out completely.
Reply:You add the lemon juice to a pot of water that has been boiled and the heat turned off and soak the parts of the dress that have the stains then hang it out in the sun to dry. If that doesn't work, you may just have to take to a cleaners. Good luck!!
Reply:Let a dry cleaner try. I wouldn't dream of trying to fix a wedding dress.
Reply:I read that to do it sefely, you rub lemon on the stains and then hang in the sun for natural bleaching out that wont ruin the fabric. They do this to antiques as a safe and effective method, but you may have to repeat.

Can someone who has planned a destination wedding help me out with prioritizing? I'm thinking the first thing would be to book the church which would finalize the date of the wedding and then build from there, but maybe I'm wrong!?

Where is the best place to purchase wedding invitations?

I'm looking for the best place to purchase wedding invitations that are both affordable and very nice quality. Any suggestions?

Where is the best place to purchase wedding invitations?
i ran into this problem as well. i also wanted a specific quality to my invites, (with an art deco theme) which proved to be almost impossible when dealing with card stores. i found the best place was to use the search engine and type in "wedding invitations" and another word to describe something specific you want in your invites (in my case, deco). i ended up getting personalized invitations from a great designer in canada of all places. it was really cheap (well under 100 american dollars!) and the were unique and fabulous. we worked strictly over email and once over the phone and it was a great experience.

I really want it to come out beautiful so any tips would be great. I forgot to say my wedding planner hasnt used it befor either!

My wedding planner and I are gonna make the cake, Fondant is what I want how do I go about this?
Fondant can be extremely hard to work with. Unless you have some practice its hard to cover a cake and smooth out the ruffles in time before the fondant sets so to speak and becomes hard.

If you have your heart set on working with it call around to a local cake decorator and see if they would be willing to give you a demo. Or if you have access to a culinary school ask the pastry instructor if they or someone else can give you pointers.

I have had some experience with fondant, and know that it requires some finesse to work with the stuff. It requires a lot of patience and quick, gentle handling in order to smooth it out onto a cake.

If you work with it and find that its too frustrating, what you could do is ask a local culinary school (if you have access to one) if they have any students who would be interested in helping you with this. Sometimes there might be aspiring pastry/cake decorators who have had more experience with the stuff and might be able to help you out.

Good luck!
Reply:If you are no baker, then you REALLY need to leave the wedding cake baking to someone who is. If it's about money, cut costs elsewhere (flowers) and order s amller cake than what the "guidelines" tell you that you need. All this will have to be done the night before and day of the wedding, and as the bride, you will be a bit busy then..... rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, trying to sleep, getting hair/nails done, whatever! DON'T DO IT!

What are some ideas for making homemade wedding invitations?

I am planning a very small wedding (50 guests) and would like to handmake the invitations. Does anyone have any suggestions or good links to see some examples?

What are some ideas for making homemade wedding invitations?
I bought a box of do it yourself wedding invitation kits by Gartner Studios. There were many different types of designs, so I bought the one I liked the best. I picked the color, the text, font, format, everything! Then I decorated them with ribbons and bows. They were simple, yet elegant.
Reply:pick paper that matches your colour scheme of theme.

try embossed or patterned paper for more glamour.

dont be afraid of ribbon etc embellishments.

The simplest and most effective homemade invitation ov seen was a black and white picture of the couple on holidays in europe. they were all rugged up and clinging to each other to avoid the winter cold their faces looked so excillarated its such a great photo.

It was backed on a black card, and the text was black on white paper, and stuck inside the card. black and deep metalic grey envelopes were used and addressed in silver calligraphy (hand written) to add more glamour to the whole thing.

Reply:You'v e recieved some great suggestions so far. If you have Microsoft Publisher there are a lot of free templates you can download online and then rearrange how you want.

Also I love vellum, which is a stiff see through paper. You can get it in many colors and patterns. I've seen many invitations that may have a darker image on the front then softens it with the vellum, and the writing is printed on the vellum.

You may want to google wedding invitations and click on images, I'm sure you will find something!

Good luck!
Reply:They have kits at walmart for less than $20 with a link to a website to customize your invites on the computer.
Reply:Try Paper Source or Crane for ideas, or the Stationary Studio - you'll get inspired. :) Good luck!
Reply:You can do photo cards (like Christmas cards that some people send out) and order them through Costco or WalMart.

The Scrapbook store idea is a great one- you can do embossing, stamps, cutouts, etc.
Reply:If you go into a scrapbook store they are really helpful and can come up with different colors and papers that will look good together, as for wording just go onto website that print invitations and you can mimic what they have or change it a bit to your liking.

What drinks should I offer at my wedding reception that don't require too many ingredients?

I'm having a wedding reception and offering free beer and one free mixed drink or shot. After the one drink I'm going to charge $2-3 a drink. I wouldn't ask people to go in their pockets but all my family is drinkers and I can't afford them. Anyway I'm trying to think of drinks that don't require too many different ingredients. Just basics like vodka, gin, or some brandy's. I don't know. Anyone have any suggestions?

What drinks should I offer at my wedding reception that don't require too many ingredients?
Hawaiian punch. Everyone likes it and it's cheap.
Reply:vodka and kool aid

it is thirst quenching and it gives you that boozey feeling.

but tell everybody to drink responsibly and no drunk driving

-cheers
Reply:ice tea, water, for the people who don't drink...
Reply:Try to Collect Rum it will save ur money %26amp; all of ur family never forget that reception
Reply:charging money at a wedding sucks... you should just fork it over... your relatives are gonna give you thousands of dollars in gifts
Reply:White zinfandel wine
Reply:If you are having your wedding at a venue or reception hall you wont get much choice....they will just have the regular stuff there that you mentioned and make whatever people want. You either choose cash bar where they pay or open bar where you pay. A better way to go would be just beer and wine and have it all paid for. Or have beer and wine and a theme drink like if you are going to the beach for a honeymoon, have a beachy drink, etc. It could be passed around in the beginning and then it's beer and wine after that. Remeber you want people to have fun, but you don't want to be worried about anyone puking on your dress or getting in fights.
Reply:a little drink called BUDLIGHT...or CORONA

you choose...
Reply:Easy. Serve punch. That way, nobody will die from drunk driving. It's safe, and actually tastes pretty good.
Reply:I like BMW's- it's just Bailey's, Malibu and Whiskey- all three of which would be convenient to have at a bar at a wedding because they're all easily mixed or good alone. Mix equal parts and serve on the rocks or shaken in a highball glass. It's tasty :)
Reply:Just offer free beer and no other free drinks
Reply:offer various wines, then offer the basic rum and coke, vodka and oj and all that basic stuff. EASY PEAZY
Reply:free draft beer and a cash bar with a bottle of champagne for each table at toast time.
Reply:I dunno, theres a cool twist to a drink that i love and its so simple. All u do is mix peach schnapps into the orange juice and stick a lemon or whatever on the side of the glass.

add sugar around the rim if u want.
Reply:Forget a semi-opened bar...if this is a home reception or a rented room where you provide the food and drink.....

Beer and wine is fine ......water, icetea or seltzers. I have an Irish drinking family, but it is about you and your husband to be....It is great if you are providing enough Champaign for a toast!
Reply:Beer and cash bar.
Reply:Rum and Coke

Gin and Tonic

Vodka Tonic

Jim Beam and Coke

and of course Red and White wine :)
Reply:srew drivers (voda, orange juice) white russians (vodka, milk, kalua) vodka %26amp;cranberry, Rum %26amp; coke, jack %26amp; coke, gin %26amp; tonic, Vodka or gin martini!!! all these can be made with bottom shelf liquir and still taste great! straight shots are alil different cuz all you taste is the alcohol, with mixed drinks its easier to cover the taste of lower grade liquir

How can I start to make wedding planning my hobby?

live in SC and I love weddings. I am married, and have been in six weddings. Four of these weddings I have helped the bride plan, plus I did my own entirely by myself. I really need a hobby and I would love to be a wedding planner or helper. I do not care about the money at all and would be willing to travel over the state (since it is not that big). I do not know how to make this idea a reality. I am afraid women will think I am crazy if I say, hey can I help with your wedding.( and I do not know them) Unfortunately my good friends are all now married.

What should I do? Do any of you live in South Carolina and need help with a wedding (especially the middle of the state.)?

How can I start to make wedding planning my hobby?
Put together a port folio of your successes to date with all you have to offer, create a questionnaire for potential clients to state their likes/dislikes budget etc. Place an ad in magazines, bridal shops, approach hotels/venues where wedding receptions are held and offer your services to them if they don't already have their own in house service, have a stand at wedding fayres(if you have them in the US) if not perhaps you could organize that also. What are good colors for a november wedding?

I am planning my wedding for November, but I can't really seem to think of good colors. Also What type of flowers would be pretty

What are good colors for a november wedding?
what i think of of are the following colors:

1.) oranges (any shade you like can do as long as there is not color "clashing"

2.) a nice rich brown, but not an icky one. One that "says" elegance in a suble and notciable way (hope that made some sense)

3.) a bright orange-red. you want an orange color but you want red in it so it is bright and cheerful.

4.) golden yellows

5.) Maybe even a "spring" yellow??

6.) a subtle light green that can be like a spring "lime green" color...(not sure it that is how i should have described it but i mena a color that is a nice green. also very pale/light, will not clash with any other colors, and also one that not blend into the background (cant think of a better way to word it)

I'll see if i can get onto a paint website to show you teh colors that i think of..best of luck and congrats.

I'd use white roses (i have no idea why but in my head the picture is awsome...) maybe some simple "fall" colored ones. Or you could even go wiht other flowers such as an Iris?? (i'll also add some pics of flowers i can find)
Reply:Sounds like you're in North America! Gold and red are beautiful...pumpkins are nice, too. A good green would be "sage". Chrysanthemums ("mums") are beautiful in autumn and come in all those autumn colors -- red, orange, yellow. Antique gold can make a lovely gown, depending on your skin color!
Reply:a fall color theme would be pretty...golds, dark reds, oranges and browns...ive been to some really pretty fall weddings. Mums are fall flowers and come in tons of colors. Also for centerpieces you can make pretty pumpkins, not like jack o lantern style, but you can carve hearts or stars in them and put candles in them.
Reply:I am getting married in November too. My colors are coral, sage, chocolate brown and ivory
Reply:Mmmm, a November wedding, how about red, orange and yellow with a bit of green mixed in.

Roses are classic. They comes in so many different shades.
Reply:Use the colors of autumn! You could also add to your centerpieces by using gourds and mini pumpkins. It will be beautiful!
Reply:burnt orange and sage green with black eyed susans..
Reply:burnt orange, dark brown, dusty rose. Think falls colours. Amber yellows. Have fun planning, sounds like a nice wedding.

What is appropriate when invited to a wedding and henna but you will not attend the wedding?

The daughter of some good friends of ours will be married inshallah in July. We are invited to the wedding but its in another state and prior commitments will prevent us from attending. She is having the henna here so I will attend inshallah. I am wondering though about a gift. She has a bridal registry so is it appropriate to bring her a wedding gift from her registry to her henna? Or should I just give her money since I am not attending the wedding?

It should be fine if you brought her wedding gift from her registry to her Hennah.

I would of like that more than the money :)

I've always loved the Hennah night :)))

Plz enjoy the Henna, and have lots of fun :))

How do I advertise my new wedding planning company?

I just started a wedding planning company and I wanted some fresh ideas on where to advertise and market my services.

How do I advertise my new wedding planning company?
Since you are just starting out, you will probably have limited resources with which to promote your company. So you will want to use them as efficiently as possible.

1. Target your advertising. Don't try to reach EVERYONE on the planet. Instead try to think of WHO your customers are and try to reach them on the basis of where they live, shop and think. Instead of using radio or newspaper ads, think of using the local Bridal Guide or a local bridal publication. The readership will be much more targeted to the customers you want to reach. If you DO use newspaper, make sure you target WHERE the ad is located. For example, you might want to run your ad on the Wedding Announcement page versus the sports section.

2. See if there are companies or businesses that will allow you to partner with them. For example, will the local florist or wedding cake baker allow you to distribute brochures or post flyers or business cards in their shop? In return, you could offer them referrals.

3. Go where the brides-to-be go.

Are there upcoming wedding shows or other related events that you could participate in? If you don't have a booth, can you advertise in the Wedding Show Guide?

4. Build a website.

The other person gave you a great idea, here. It's one thing to pass along brochures or business cards, but a website can make you look all the more professional and allow you to customize your message based on time time of the year, etc. You can even customize your message to tie in with upcoming wedding shows and the like. A website can grow as your business grows. For example, perhaps today it's just a list of services. By the end of the summer, you could have a page that features testimonials from happy clients.

Good luck with your business. If you run into any girls who want to get married, feel free to pass along my name. :-)
Reply:Here is a good source for marketing and advertising, provides, step by step ideas, leads etc, it is worth it.
Reply:see if the local newspaper has a new business section so they could do a feature story on your new business - try some local ads promoting an open house with buy one get half off or have a punch card so every time they spend $25 or more they get a punch and when the card is full they get something small or half off their next purchase - see how much a 30 sec radio ad is on the smaller networks around you - where I'm at you can get a radio 30 second ad for only $17 during prime drive time - design door knockers introducing your new business %26amp; have the kids put em on area doors - design a trifold brochure on your computer or some type of handout and bring it to places that also relate to weddings (such as jewelers or caterers) Tell them you're willing to refer business - good luck

How to keep cool during a hot and crowded wedding?

I'm a bridesmaid next weekend %26amp; the wedding is in atlanta. We'll be outside from 11 am -2 pm taking pictures, talking to the family etc. I want to know how I can remain cool and not be all sweaty, wilted and bright red by the time the wedding starts at 2. Our dresses goes to the floor, have built in corsets %26amp; do not breathe whatsoever. How do I keep from becoming smelly and uncomfortable?

How to keep cool during a hot and crowded wedding?
Yes, bring a little fan - either a pretty little hand held one or even a battery operated one (since you'll just be socializing I'm sure no one will mind!)

Also make sure you stay OVER hydrated. Drink tons of water and it will definitely help.

Don't over do the makeup and hair products either because that will just make for more layers to make you uncomfortable - and your makeup will probably just sweat off anyway.

Every once in a while, find a shady spot and just relax for a bit. Don't overexert yourself!
Reply:I was going to say bring a hand fan, one of those little plastic ones from the dollar store, but it would look weird standing up in front of everyone fanning yourself. I'd say just grin and bare it and then after the ceremony... whip out the fan!
Reply:Fan and keep a little hankerchief or napkin in your purse. You can also get those little travel deodorants or wet wipes.
Reply:yeah try a hand fan

Reply:Decorating a cake takes practice -- but it can be done simply but still be elegant.

There is a show on public television it is called Bake, Decorate, Celebrate -- They give some great ideas for cake decorating -- Their website has decorating techniques (with pictures) as well as tiered construction information also with pictures for wedding cakes and it also has icing recipes. The address is: http://www.bakedecoratecelebrate.com/

Another site that is very useful for cake decorating is the Wilton site -- they also have lots of decorating information. The address is: http://www.wilton.com/decorating/basic/i...

Good luck on your cake -- enjoy!!
Reply:Its hard and takes a lot of practice...so I'd get some friends together and tell them they'll be eating cake courtesy of you and your experiments for the next few weeks :) Practice makes perfect.

Be sure the cake is fully cooled (even freeze it for a few hours) before you frost it. If you have a turntable, be sure you spin it evenly and steadily as you frost and decorate or you'll be uneven. Good luck.

How can i get a work placement in a wedding planning company?

Does any work as wedding planner either in a company or in a hotel?

Is there a wedding compnay that offers student work placements in the uk?

UK answers only please

How can i get a work placement in a wedding planning company?
Hi there. I don't know a thing about weddings, but all companies should consider creating a work placement, if they like the student who is asking.

You could get a list of wedding planners and approach them one by one. (Get your hands on these wedding magazines at the newsagents and look through the adverts)

The yellow pages should also be of help.

Also, you could phone up other wedding related companies like florists, cake makers, wedding stationary people, caterers. All of these will have had some dealing with wedding planners, so they might be able to tell you which ones are out there and which ones they like.

Also, get in contact with the really prestigious places to get married.. cathedrals, castles, palaces. Those will have definitely have links to wedding planners and might be happy to chat to you.

How do I find out information on an iridescent wedding gown/dress?

My wedding is in 2 years, but I'm thinking that it is going to take that long finding my gown. I'm not interested in a white gown. Traditionally speaking I'm not supposed to anyway. But I really would like to have an ivory/cream colored gown with a dusty rose color underneath. I'm having a hard time finding anything on the web. Do I contact fabric stores, go to bridal shops, how do i find information on any wedding gowns?

Thanks guys for the help!

Planning weddings are hard.

How do I find out information on an iridescent wedding gown/dress?
Hey! I work at a Bridal Salon! Finally a question I can answer with accuracy! Well, actually I have to agree with the above answerers, definetly go into a salon. A good bridal salon will do dress searches for you and offer options for quality alterations. (some even reasonably) They can order good grade material by the yard and local, established shops will even have recommendations for fellow wedding vendors. (Thus helping you through the daunting task of planning your own wedding.

P.S. Beware the Bridal Department Stores!
Reply:sorry I mean go to http://www.demetriosbride.com collection Sposabella and style 4214 which will be in the bottom left first one. Blonde girl wearing it and its strapless. VERY PRETTY GOWN!!!!! SO EXCITED! Report It

Reply:enjoy Report It

Reply:for something like that, you'll likely have to have it custome made (or at least adapted). What you'll want is your base colour (dusty rose) on the skirt area of the dress, and over top of it have your creme/ivory organza. Even if you just find a rose-coloured dress, any seamstress (or tailor-minded relative/friend) could adapt your dress to have the organza overlay. I would contact your local fabric store to take a look at the different types of organza, and get some quotes from tailor stores. Go around to bridal shops only for the dress, since they cost an arm and a leg for alterations.

How do I wear a barong tagalog to a wedding?

I'm attending a filipino/jewish wedding in the summer and need to know what is the best way to wear the barong. Is it okay to wear light colored pants and light colored shoes since it's a morning wedding? Or should I wear black pants and black shoes. Thanks!

How do I wear a barong tagalog to a wedding?
To best showcase the intricate fabric and embroidery:

1. please wear plain white shirt underneath, a long-sleeve undershirt is even more visually pleasing -it may be summer but it certainly looks better in the photograph; (do check Google- Images, compare the difference)

2. please keep accessories to a minimum -if you must, a watch and a ring is all that is necessary;

3. please wear clean, crisply ironed black dress pants;

4. please pair these with black dress socks and polished black shoes;

5. most importantly, please maintain good posture and smile.

Mazel tov (congratulations) to the couple!
Reply:You are welcome. Report It

Reply:As above but wear a coloured "t-shirt" underneath the Barong

FILAMUSA--- Do you practise at being an a***hole or is it a natural talent you have?
Reply:You have to wear an insert plain white t-shirt then barong tagalog with black pants %26amp; black shoes.
Reply:wear a plain white t-shirt underneath your barong and a black pants, black socks, black shoes with it. a big no no is to wear a light or cream colored pants with your barong. and also, many make a mistake by wearing white socks with black shoes.
Reply:its best to wear black pants blk shoe's. wear a nice plain blk or white tee shirt under the barong..
Reply:the best way to wear it is with black pants and black shoes. it's going to show the intricated details of your barong tagalog. your welcome.
Reply:day or night, it is always appropriate to wear black pants and shoes. NEVER wear colored undershirts! NEVER put those colored "neckties" on barongs! NEVER buy barong made with synthetic fiber! If you want to invest in a good quality barong, make sure it's made out of piña (pronounced "peenya") and hand embroidered or if you want a cheaper version, jusi (pronounced "hoo-see") is a great alternative. It will cost a fraction of the piña version.
Reply:black pants %26amp; shoes is correct way, then either a WHITE t.shirt, or a white singlet shortsleeved version {like a t.shirt would} i know married to a Philippina. then later rip of your Barong after reception formalities are over, observe what OTHER phlippino guys are doing, then do exactly what they do the Barong gets extremely annoying after awhile, trust me!! you will soon find that out too!!
Reply:Wearing a Barong to a wedding/funeral is the equilavelent of formal attire here. Black pants and shoes are the standard. Also don't forget to wear a white t shirt underneith the Barong.
Reply:you are totally neat with your attire. don't change your attire because it is your choice as long as you are neat, clean and comportable.
Reply:Better to wear with a plain, white short-sleeve T-shirt underneath, black trousers, black socks and black leather shoes.
Reply:the barong is see-through so don't wear a bra. just kidding!

but do wear a crisp white t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Reply:filipino / jewish??? let me guess, the guy is the rich old jew and the girl is the alot younger, alot more beautiful filipina. am i right?

Is it possible to plan a wedding in less that 2 months with out overspending?

I'm pregnant and I want to get married before the baby comes, but I also want to get married before I really start to show. I'm planning my wedding for August 5, 2006. Do you think planning it is possible?

Is it possible to plan a wedding in less that 2 months with out overspending?
Oh yes - but you need to be smart in your choices.

A Church, Minister and Hall will be the hardest things to get. Do them first - and be prepared to have the ceremony at a park or at home to side step that scheduling problem (depending on where you live). Maybe you will have better luck with afternoon or evening, or you could do a cool evening affair in a back yard, lit by white christmas lights. Be as flexible as you can to have the most luck.

Other than that, you shouldn't have too much trouble. Once you know where and what time, the dj, food and flowers are easy to arrange (and to save money you can have a friends help out with these things).

My sister put her wedding together in short order. They lived in CO and had the ceremony with a friend who was a minister presiding, on a lovely mountain location and then reserved a big room and deck at a local restraunt. It was lovely and so, no stress planning. They really were pleased.

Peace - and many blessings to you and your new family!
Reply:my wife and daughter planned my daughters wedding in less than a month with my money of course.i had to see what i was purchasing and had towrite the checks.about 7 grand was the total but thats what i wrote checks for. Report It

Reply:You can do it. Try to keep in mind that the more certain things are rushed, the more they cost. Personally, I think spending huge amounts of money on weddings is entirely insane - spend the money on your home and family. But you can put together a decent event without going crazy with money if you follow the steps below:

1 - DO NOT USE ANY COMPANY THAT ADVERTISES WEDDING SERVICES. The word "wedding" automatically increases the price of everything by 3-10 times.

Apart from the place where you intend to get married, and the minister/priest/judge who officiates, just refer to what's coming up as a "party," "gathering," or "event" when you talk to caterers, restaurants or halls, photographers, and bakeries. Well, you can't hide getting a wedding cake. But you sure can be sensible about what you get.

2 - BUILD A BACKWARDS CALENDAR.

Only you and those helping get this set up know what you want. First make a list of those things. Then get out - or on the computer, make - a calendar with big boxes in which you can write down specific events. Go from today to the wedding date.

Work backwards from the date. On the day before the wedding, for example, is usually the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (if you want to be that fancy). For the groom, after the dinner is often the batchelor party - and if you can persuade him, try and get that event canceled or at least moved back to 4 days before the wedding. That allows him time to recover and be in adequate shape for all that is about to happen!

there are certain vital dates that just have to be taken into account. Unless your wedding is very small, everyone you know who would attend already knows the date, and lives nearby, then you need to allow no less than 6 weeks to get the invitations out.

Short of time? Well, it isn't the end of the world, but you might want to get a family member on the phone making calls to anyone you realize could need more time to plan to attend - folk who have to buy airline tickets to come, for example, or people who have jobs and lives that are crowded and may have conflicting commitments.

Now, I already KNOW that you can't make 6 weeks, it's 21 June already, for crying out loud. But this advice shows how the calendar works, and how to cook up ways to deal with problems like this. And by the way - forget getting your invitations printed. You need someone with a nice computer and good printer - if you haven't your own - on which you can print the announcement/invitation/envelope/RSVP package.

Do not take this job on yourself. Get someone very reliable with an eye for design, and give him/her the right to go to Office Depot to buy the stationery package created for this. You pay that person back or front the cost. Take a crack at writing out what you want written on those items and then while he/she is doing that job, get someone else working like crazy on the invitation LIST. Remember it isn't just who, but addresses!

Finish your calendar. You will rapidly discover WHICH tasks you have to do first so that everything fits together and you don't get stuck with rush charges. (Hint - the preacher or whoever is not a priority; the PLACE is - how can you print invitations without and address? How can you give the reception site address likewise?)

3 - NEGOTIATE, NEGOTIATE, NEGOTIATE

Some places want payment up front or on delivery. Some will bill you. Some will throw in a nice extra if you ask. Again, the rule is, avoid the wedding specialists. If everyone in town has their reception at the country club, you go someplace else. If someone ets very difficult about terms and service, go someplace else. Whatever you do, avoid the trap of thinking your wedding will be less than perfect if it is not where and how the most popular girl in high school had hers! This is NOT A COMPETITION - it is the beginning of a new point in your life, and a rare time when people you love come together to show their love to you. And oh, yeah, don't forget there's a guy in this too, he isn't totally unimportant. IT IS HIS WEDDING TOO!

So if you avoid the "wedding" tags, then how do you order wedding flowers and wedding pictures? First, think about the kinds of flowers you want and number of arrangements you want. Make a list and then shop the florists. This is a BULK PURCHASE and you should get a DISCOUNT for doing it. next, think about which kinds of pictures you want. Ask a friend to maybe be in charge of creating a list - using typical wedding poses and other shots as an idea source. Usually a wedding shoot is 2-4 hours long, including the wedding and reception. So you have to hire a photographer for a shoot at an event for a half-day, and you can ask his rates for proofs and prints. Whether the photographer is a wedding specialist or not isn't important - with your list you know how to direct his work and you know what charges and terms to expect.

4 - SET A BUDGET

You CAN'T do this until you call some places for the basic expenses and negotiate their charges. Then you sit down and lay out the costs and alternatives. After that you know how much things cost and how to balance your choices to come in at a bearable expense - AND you know the ordering deadlines, when you need how much money for some of the bills, and so forth.

5 - EXPECT EVERYTHING TO GO WRONG

No matter how hard you try, stuff is not going to work "just right." First, it isn't the end of the world. Second, most screw-ups are fixable, and if they aren't you should be able to refuse the bills. The ONLY things you NEED are the person who performs the wedding, the license, the groom and yourself. ALL of the rest is frills and don't you EVER forget it. It will save you from terrible stress and anxiety and screaming fits!

Good luck!

How to get started as a wedding photographer?

I don't have any prior experience as a wedding photographer. So how would I go about getting in this business? Is this a fairly profitable business to get into though?

Reply:Are you a pretty good photographer? Know your way around an f/stop and manual flash? Can you drag the shutter?

How about people skills? Performing under pressure? Work ethic? Are you prepared to be away from your family almost every Saturday all spring and summer?

Do you have at least two of every camera thing? Bodies, flashes, cords, fast zooms, brackets, diffusers? A fast computer? Adobe Photoshop?

You don't necessarily need a degree in photography, but having a mentor is a big help. The best way to get started in the business is to assist an established photographer or studio for a season or two, as an assistant or second shooter. This job doesn't pay much.

Unless you are very good and in demand, it doesn't pay all that much after you are out on your own, either. Yes, you might get $3000 for doing a wedding, but you have to consider your time, cost of materials, overhead, and depreciation of equipment. Don't forget insurance and tax.

Then there's the competition from Uncle Bob photographers with their new Digital Rebel. And the weekend warriors who get $400 or $500 and hand the couple a CD.

Of course, some high end wedding photogs buck the trend. Either they have superior skills or marketing (or both) and they command ridiculous prices for extravagant weddings.

It is possible to make a decent living shooting weddings. You will need talent, and a large dose of business skill, and maybe some luck. If you like it, you should certainly give it a try.
Reply:Experience is everything.

This is what I did: Search out an established wedding photographer and ask them if they need an "assistant". Learn on the job from them. Ask questions. Charge about $80.00 per day . . . then go on your own.

Good luck!

What are the procedures for renewing wedding vows in japan?

My husband and I are already married but my inlaws werent able to make it to our wedding since they are stationed in japan. Does anyone know the procedures of renewing vows? Anyone have contact numbers of people or ministers I can reach in Tokyo?

What are the procedures for renewing wedding vows in japan?
AFAIK Japanese couples don't make a practice of renewing vows, so there's no procedure. However I don't think there's anything stopping you from having as many wedding ceremonies as you like if you are already married.

Japanese wedding palaces offer "rent-a-priest" celebrants, but that would be expensive. There are bona fide churches of just about every denomination in Japan, I guess you could try Japan Times listings or the Japan Yellow Pages. Some churches consider weddings a great source of income, other churches only marry members of their own congregations.

What are some simple ideas for wedding cupcakes and their stands?

I am having my cupcakes made by a family member, so I need so good picture examples of wedding cupcakes. I have some pictures, but not many.

I also am debating wether I want individual cupcake centerpieces (to cut cost of additional centerpieces) for the tables, or if I want a cupcake tower seperately. I haven't found any examples of cupcake centerpieces for tables, just pictures of big cupcake towers... so I need some pictures or individual centerpiece's for tables.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

those are some of the ones i like. maybe if you use the cupcakes as centerpieces, you could have the cupcakes made professionally(with the money you save from the centerpieces)

i think they would make great centerpieces but if you are going for a real formal look you may want to stick to regular centerpieces
Reply:This could be used as a centerpiece. You could add pretty ribbons, flowers and greenery or whatever matches your decor. Or, even let the cupcakes stand out on their own.

Reply:I think it would be neat to make the cupcakes in white and chocolate and make the white cupcakes look like bridal gowns and the chocolate ones like tuxedos. I saw this on a food show once - wish I had a picture because it was really neat. They did a small cake and several cupcakes.

What is appropriate to wear to a beach wedding in December?

Its for a friends wedding and it is being held in Cancun. Suggestions for guys and girls would be great, cause my girlfriend is stumped on what to wear as well. The wedding is on the beach, so I'm guessing its pretty casual. Thanks in advance!

What is appropriate to wear to a beach wedding in December?
For a guy...

Khaki pants, white polo shirt, flip-flops.

For a girl...

Any kind of sundress in a light color (not black, but definately not white!), flip-flops, or some cute strappy flats. If it is in the sand, you will want open shoes, and heals would get annoying.

Have fun!!!
Reply:Linen pants and shirt for the gentleman and a linen sun dress for the lady. Classy and casual. Shoes, no need, your at the beach. I've been to many a beach wedding. This is the protocal. Have fun.
Reply:Depending on the weather, perhaps a lacy, pastel color dress, a nice hat (if she wants) and instead of shoes or sandals how about barefoot for the ladies. For a man I think a nice cotton shirt (any color) and kaki shorts would look nice. Perhaps the guys can wear sandals or even go barefoot. Maybe as an accessory everyone can blow bubbles while at the wedding so it will look very nice (water and bubbles).
Reply:any nice dress will do. summery ones are fine since its at the beach. find a cute shorter dress. one that is casual, yet appropriate. and wear dressy sandals with it. Have fun! Beach weddings are beautiful!

What is the best style wedding gown for a small framed thin person?

I am 5'5 1/2 and 108lbs , small frame, what type of wedding gown goes best for my body type? Thanks for any help.

What is the best style wedding gown for a small framed thin person?
I think that this is not something for an individual to tell you without seeing things on you. Also I think that your own style has to be a factor as mine may be different from yours, but I will give you my opinion. I think that a strapless gown or ooff the shoulder would be my first recommendation. Second would be spaghetti strap style. Being that you are small I think the bigger the gown and the more material would overwhelm your figure. Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:Hello ,

I work in a boutique of a major French fashion house and we are specialised in clothes for women with 'petite' figures .

I advise to go and look for a gown with an empire waistline and pleated skirt ... that way You will look taller and slender , like a Greek goddess ...

How can I turn my wedding dress into a creative keepsake?

I'm looking to create a beautiful keepsake out of my wedding dress. Does anyone have any good ideas, or patterns? I've thought about maybe a pillow, but that seems a little common.

Please help.

How can I turn my wedding dress into a creative keepsake?
I've seen photos of wedding dress quilts, and they're lovely. Unfortunately, they aren't washable. Do a web search to see some samples.
Reply:You could buy a doll and have a dress made for the doll out of your dress.

Some people will have the dress cut into Christening outfits if they think they might have their future children baptized.

You could cut pieces of the fabric and lace and have them framed like a picture, or in a shadow box with your wedding picture.

You could make fabric flowers out of the material and turn it into a bouquet and put that in a shadow box or under a dome.

.
Reply:the most beautiful item I saw was two Christening gowns made for a woman's twin daughters, from her wedding gown. I thought what a fabulous keepsake.

I want to start a wedding/party planning business. I have my certificate so where do I go from here?

I am currently planning a wedding and I'm checking out how much other planners charge in the area.

I want to start a wedding/party planning business. I have my certificate so where do I go from here?
When I started my business (Pampered Chef) I found that my biggest breaks came from word of mouth. I threw my own "Grand Opening" party and invited almost 100 people. At first I was dissapointed with the turnout, but over the next few weeks I realized that everyone I invited got the news about my business. Soon people I hardly knew were telling me that thier sister-in-law (friend, aunt, etc.) wanted to have a show. Someone else who I barely knew couldn't make the grand opening but offered to have a show of her own. It led to 4 more shows, which led to an open house, which led to a recruit! She is now a great friend!

I also got a table at some local vendor fairs %26amp; always had a raffle at the table. When people filled out the raffle slip they gave me their contact info for my mailing list and answered a few questions, such as "are you interested in earning free and discounted products by hosting a fun cooking show?" This was a great help in building a customer base.

My suggestion - throw your own "Grand Opening" and invite TONS of people. Use raffles to boost your customer base.

P.S.

Pampered Chef does wedding registeries with great benefits. Send me a note at heatherkrey@rcn.com if you'd like to network so we can both get more customers. (that is, I recommend you, you recommend me.)
Reply:Get some caterers and live performances. Than put your add on Craig's List.
Reply:you may want to offer your services at a lower cost or even pro bono for a short while so you can get together a portfolio and references so that others will want to hire you...
Reply:build a relationship with local vendors. Attend bridal events and make new friens. Word of mouth is the best way to get this information out.

Good luck!
Reply:Put an add in the news papers, bullitons around towns, and make flyers. You'll be sure to get some responses.

What is the average wedding coordinator cost for 50 person or smaller wedding?

Looking to find an average cost for a wedding coordinator to arrange a relatively small wedding (50 guests and under).

What is the average wedding coordinator cost for 50 person or smaller wedding?
The wedding planner can range from 500 dollars to 3000 depending on their experience and what they will be responsible for. They usually charge either by the hour, by the percentage total of wedding or a flat fee. Whatever the cost, they are well worth it. A good wedding planner though expensive may save you money, as they will compare vendors etc.
Reply:Hi. I am a wedding planner based in NY but work nationally. It all depends on how extravagant you want the wedding to be. I have planned wedding with 40 people where they have had so much to do because of the level of extravagance they wanted. On the other hand I have had weddings where my fee was cheaper for a 300 person wedding. It all depends on what you are looking to be done. How involved do you want the planner? Do you want them there just the day of the wedding or to coordinate and plan your entire wedding starting with coming up with a theme? I am not sure where you are located but if you are looking for a wedding planner or just advice you can email me or go to my website at www.confettieventplan.com Good luck and Congratulations!
Reply:well they normally take a % or a flat rate look in your area or look for a bluk package i plan on going to hawii for mine an spending 750.00 for video photo limo and cake and location and a minister and it will hold at least 30ppl only thing we have to pay beyond is flights but my guests are picking up the tab of flights and i am paying for hotel and activities
Reply:I belive its normally 10% of your total budget

How to dry clean a wedding dress made of satin?

I bought my wedding dress from China and there are no dry cleaning instructions attached to the dress! The cleaners are not sure how to clean the dress! It is made of Satin and is very plain. No beads! Does anyone have instructions on how to clean this dress!

How to dry clean a wedding dress made of satin?
Take it to your dry cleaner. They will know what to do with it. They clean all wedding gowns regardless of their fabric or detail and offer proper storage for them as well. If your present cleaners can't figure it out, take it to another.
Reply:To put myself thru college, I worked in a bridal shop for a few years. We would have many brides that bought their dresses from overseas and had the same issue as yours.

Go back to the manufacturer. If they are legally importing goods to the US, they needs to provide care instructions. This is from the Federal Trade Commission website:

Care instructions. The care label must identify:

At least one safe cleaning method -- either washing or dry cleaning -- and any necessary warnings about the cleaning method.

Example: If the care instruction is to dry clean, the label must specify one type of solvent that may be used, unless all commercially available types of solvents can be used safely on the gown.

Example: If the gown is labeled for washing, the label must say whether any step of the normal washing process -- washing, bleaching, drying, or ironing -- could harm the garment or other items cleaned with it.

The care label must be sewn in. Imported garments should have care labels when they are sent to the U.S., or labels should be attached by the importer.

If the lable is not there, go back to the manufacturer and request one.

If you have no luck, try the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists. You can search my state for a cleaner that specializes in wedding gowns.

To store your gown, I do not advise having it professionally preserved. It is expensive and there is no way to check the gown to make sure all the stains were removed when the dress was cleaned prior to heirlooming. I reccomend (and I also do this with my wedding gown) after cleaning fold the gown placing clean white acid-free tissue paper between each fold. Store in one of those vacuum storage bags (you can buy Space Bags at Bed Bath and Beyond) in a cool dark place so the dress does not get discolored by light. Once a year (just before your anniversary so your husband has a reminder ;-) ) take the gown out, inspect it for any damage and let it hang for a few days. Then fold it back up and store it in the vacuum bag for another year. You can also store your veil the same way, just wrap any sharp edges with tissue.
Reply:since the cleaners did not know...take it to a bridal shop and ask them
Reply:Take it to a professional that knows more than the one you took it to.

Some one should know how to clean.
