I am planning a very small wedding (50 guests) and would like to handmake the invitations. Does anyone have any suggestions or good links to see some examples?
What are some ideas for making homemade wedding invitations?
I bought a box of do it yourself wedding invitation kits by Gartner Studios. There were many different types of designs, so I bought the one I liked the best. I picked the color, the text, font, format, everything! Then I decorated them with ribbons and bows. They were simple, yet elegant.
Reply:pick paper that matches your colour scheme of theme.
try embossed or patterned paper for more glamour.
dont be afraid of ribbon etc embellishments.
The simplest and most effective homemade invitation ov seen was a black and white picture of the couple on holidays in europe. they were all rugged up and clinging to each other to avoid the winter cold their faces looked so excillarated its such a great photo.
It was backed on a black card, and the text was black on white paper, and stuck inside the card. black and deep metalic grey envelopes were used and addressed in silver calligraphy (hand written) to add more glamour to the whole thing.
It was beautiful, simple and personal so think about using your favorite picture together as a base.
xx
Reply:You'v e recieved some great suggestions so far. If you have Microsoft Publisher there are a lot of free templates you can download online and then rearrange how you want.
Also I love vellum, which is a stiff see through paper. You can get it in many colors and patterns. I've seen many invitations that may have a darker image on the front then softens it with the vellum, and the writing is printed on the vellum.
You may want to google wedding invitations and click on images, I'm sure you will find something!
Good luck!
Reply:They have kits at walmart for less than $20 with a link to a website to customize your invites on the computer.
Reply:Try Paper Source or Crane for ideas, or the Stationary Studio - you'll get inspired. :) Good luck!
Reply:You can do photo cards (like Christmas cards that some people send out) and order them through Costco or WalMart.
The Scrapbook store idea is a great one- you can do embossing, stamps, cutouts, etc.
Reply:If you go into a scrapbook store they are really helpful and can come up with different colors and papers that will look good together, as for wording just go onto website that print invitations and you can mimic what they have or change it a bit to your liking.
Reply:send a pic of ur pet in acute tux or a dress depends onboy or girl then a nice greeting! good luck
