How do you eat one year old frozen wedding cake?

I got married one year ago this 12/10. We saved the top of the wedding cake and its been in the freezer for 363 days as of this writing. Its been wrapped in plastic wrap and tin foil the whole time. Someone suggested taking it out the day before and letting it thaw on the counter for 24 hours. Anyone know? Thanks!

Oh I like this!!! I have a rather funny story from mine...but won't go into the long winded detail here. I suggest defrosting in the frig for at least 24 hours. Feed each other one bite...........then you have fun with the frosting.......no clothes necessary....I'm sure you get my drift! Have fun and HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Reply:What???????????

Don't eat it!!!!!

What are you thinkinh about?
Reply:thaw in the frig or cut a slice and put it in the micro for a few seconds.
Reply:Thaw it and use a fork. It's fine really- I am a Chef at a banquet facility and brides do it all the time- some kind of tradition. I just hope it was wrapped well because freezer burn tastes pretty bad ; )
Reply:you don't!!!!!!
Reply:I'm not sure but congrats on lasting a year!
Reply:If you really wanted to eat it, I would thaw it in the fridge and just share a tiny fork full if you want to do the "tradition".

Personally, I'd call the baker who did the cake and order a small one layer cake. Some high end bakers do this routinely for "sample cakes" for prospective customers. Surprise your sweetie with that instead. You'll enjoy it more.
Reply:No; please thaw it in the fridge, otherwise it thaws too quickly and the icing can become runny.
Reply:yep thaw it out
Reply:Take my aadvice and don't worry about it. No matter how you defrost it the cake is already freezer burnt. You don't wanna eat a whole lot it. Just take anibble and then pitch the rest. Learn from my mistake and don't stuff a big gob in your mouth. You will regret it
Reply:Just take it out and let thaw for 24 hours like your friend suggested. We did that with ours and amazingly enough it was still good! Yummy!
