What are the notary public procedures in a wedding?

What do you have to do or say as a notary public, in a wedding?

What are the notary public procedures in a wedding?
State laws regulate who is authorized to legally witness a marriage certificate and you may not have any such authority, if you are asking from a legal viewpoint.

A notary is a witness, he is not a participant. You shouldn't have to say anything other than "May I see some identification, please?" prior to them signing the agreement.

If you are asking from a social viewpoint, it's considered polite to at least sign the guest book and give the newlyweds a nice card.
Reply:It may differ by region or state; but where I'm at, all a notary public needs to do at a wedding (other than enjoy him or herself) would be to Witness the signing of the wedding certificate -- that is, set seal to the license confirming that the people who are getting married are who they say they are.

But normally, the person performing the ceremony does that, along with the best man and maid/matron of honor; negating the need for a notary.
Reply:Here is a page where you can get the real answers. It is mostly a civil ceremony.
Reply:You probably wouldn't have to do or say much of anything. Just notarize the wedding certificate.
Reply:As far as I know a notary public has nothing to do with weddings unless there is a prenup aggreement to sign which I would not do.
