I'm looking for appitizer ideas for our December wedding reception. We'd like something a litter heavier because of the seasons, and something that will go well with our spiced eggnog and other "Christmas" drinks.
Thanks so much!
What are some nice vegetarian appitizers for a winter wedding?
Crostini with spinach and roasted red peppers. (Red and green for the holidays.) Have some tomato bruscetta too.
Stuffed mushrooms
Baked brie en croute with a cranberry chutney.
Veggie filo triangles (wild mushroom, spinach and feta, artichoke, etc)
Mini quiche
Reply:Well sushi is always a good choice, and can be made to accentuate the heavier taste palate associated with winter. Also try fried stuffed (non dairy)cheese ravioli, bruschetta with vegetable paste, seasoned fried tofu on schewers, and there are several winter bean based soups that you could serve for appetizers.
Reply:How about a butternut squash soup instead of an appetizer?
You could also do stuffed mushrooms or some mushroomy dish. I was at Horizons in Philly a couple of years ago, and they had this gorgeous portabello carpaccio.
If you can get tiny squashes, you could do a mini version of stuffed squashes.
Reply:bruschetta, always a hit especially if you want to make a vegetarian dish, how about http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/...
Reply:mini fried ice cream balls wrapped in pound cake. it's comforting and the ice cream is a surprise. or, if you don't want something sweet... how about slices of crispy pita bread with bruschetta on top?
Reply:carrot stick, celery and cucumbers. Peanut butter for the celery would be heavier and it goes with everything at Christmas
Reply:spanakopita or baba ganoush would be nice or even hummus.
Reply:Cucumber sushi. Don't worry, you make it without the fish. Just cucumber, rice, and nori (seaweed).
Reply:im not vegetarian but maybe salad and hot apple cider?
Reply:CHEESE!! becuase everybody loves cheese, right?
Reply:deer meat nah im jp idk much about vegetarians
i guess carrot cake
