Where can I find instructions for making a cake that looks like a corsett or wedding dress?

We are throwing a personal wedding shower for a friend of mine and want to make a cake that looks like a corsett or a wedding dress or something related to the wedding. If there is a cake pan shaped like anything, tell me where I can find it (don't say Bed Bath or Beyond or a Kitchen Store, I need specifics!). Otherwise I can try to make it from scratch using layer cakes. Please help! Thanks!

Wilton has a cake pan that is shaped like a bell shaped skirt. A Barbie type doll is inserted in the center once the cake is decorated, You then decorate her bodice and the cake with icing to resemble a gown. The cake won't be that large, but you could make 1 bride cake and another one for each of her attendants (in the wedding colors ).In their instruction book, the skirt is shown on a Cinderella doll.
Reply:I dont know of anywhere where you can buy that, or anyplace that has instructions.. but I will tell you this.. cakes that are shaped like that are baked in a normal pan and carved into shape.. I did this with my daughters cake once.. you bake the sheet cake, then freeze it.. (thats the important part) while its forzen you can cut it with a serrated knife into the shape you need, you can stack it up if you need more height.. but make sure you freeze the cake before you try to carve it. if gets to soft while working with it.. freeze it again.
Reply:take the bust and lower half of a barbie doll as the frame work of the the base of the cake for the dress. then mane small cones out of card paper and stick on to the lower end of the dress about five of them to give a flounce effect. make a fondant roll out icinf in white and lightly throw over from the waist of the barbie to the foot as it falls gently pick the flounce over the card paper. now take a circular tulle radius to fit from the waist to the base and carefully gather at the waist and let it fall over the fondant icinf. secure with icing at the waist. with o icing nozzle do cornelli lace over this tulle add sparkle here and there your skirt is ready. Now focus on the bust with icing draw up a off shoulder cornelli lace top and dust sparkle on it. hey your dress is ready

Also browse the local library magazines like Better Homes and Gardens, and wedding specific magazines to try and run across one without actually having to buy a bunch of magazines.
