There is not a rule on this, really.





Most last about 2-2.5 hours. It really depends on the things you are doing though. If you are having a seated dinner, formal introductions of you and the party, first dance, parent dances, toasts, cake, etc.that may take longer.
Reply:I'd say about 5-6 hours. That includes cocktail hour.

If you are starting with cocktails at, for example, 5:30, dinner at 6:30, your dance could start at 8:30 - til midnight...


Depends on the hours your venue is available, and the hours for your music, as well as the hours for your liquor licence.
Reply:I'd say four to five hours... but have it as long as you want :)
Reply:They run the gamut. At one extreme is wedding breakfast in the morning and dancing, drinking, eating, until after midnight. At the other is the receiving line followed by a toast and a small dessert.





If you keep people for 3 hours or more, you are expected to provide light refreshments like crackers or cake, and some beverages. If you keep them over much over 4 hours they will expect to be fed a real meal, either seated or buffet.
Reply:mine was about 7 hours long. any ive been to its usually started around 5pm, dinner from 6-7, speeches from 7-8 then dancing the rest of the night.
Reply:About 6 hours. You got hors d' oeuvres in the beginning, father/daughter dance, mother/daughter dance, bride/groom first dance, speech from entourages, toast, meals, cake cutting, etc (depending on your tradition).
Reply:however long it takes you to do everything you want to do. no certain time required. my reception lasted 3 hours. depends on how long the building is rented for. how long you feel like dancing. whether you and the groom are tired.some people party all night long.

If there is dancing, it'll last longer for sure.
Reply:it depends. if you are doing the traditional cocktail hour + dinner + dancing, it usually lasts 5-6 hours.
