How do we dress for a summer wedding on Long Island?

We're both from So Cal and have never been on the East Coast in the summer. How's the weather? Are wedding apparrel rules different on the East Coast?

No. The same rules apply.


If it is in the afternoon or morning, wear a dressy casual dress(or skirt%26amp;blouse) that comes at or below the knee.





If it is at night, such as a candlelight ceremony, wear a very dressy dress. It can be above the knee to floor length as long as you don't look like you're trying to look better than the bride.





Wear light colors or black or white.





Black OR white is considered acceptable now.





The no black or white thing is VERY antiquated. Pick up ANY magazine that addresses that question.


So if black or white looks good on you, WEAR IT for crying out loud. IT'S OK!





I would not wear sandals. It is acceptable for day but I personally would want to show more respect by wearing dress pumps.

Reply:If it is in the summer, you should wear a dressy sundress... don't wear the wedding colors whatever you do! Then you should get some dressier sandals and a hand bag-not a purse- that matches either shoes or dress. Wear pearl earings and your hair exactly how it is in your avatar pic! Very cute!
Reply:I suggest for a woman; sleeveless (not strapless, SLEEVELESS) sheath with an empire waist or a-line. Blue, pink, or cream. No white. If the wedding is outdoors, a coordinating hat would also be appropriate.

very casual, a dress with some pumps, or a nice blouse with a nice skirt, or even a nice pants suit, with open toe shoes.
