What should I wear for a wedding in China?

I'm going to a wedding next month in China and don't have a clue what to wear! I've been told it's not as formal as weddings are in the UK but I don't want to wear completely the wrong kind of thing and look (and feel) stupid - pr wors, offend people! I don't know what the ettiquette is there for weddings.

What should I wear for a wedding in China?
The color red. Incorporating red into the decor and attire is probably the most commonly used Chinese symbol in weddings. The color represents joy and happiness and is considered good luck for the couple.

Check out my second link they had a lot of nice outfits that could give you some idea.

Goodluck!
Reply:Not extraordinary or ostensive, coz the chinese do not like it. They like simple things...
Reply:Wear a chinese dress! Duh?
Reply:I think red is big in china, i dont know what the brides wear, as long as you dont upstage her, you can safely wear anything red or all red.

p.s. colours are important in chinese culture, it would be as well to check out which ones are appropriate for the different occasions. Red for instance is the favoured colour in celebrating good things.
Reply:then inform yourself a little bit, instead of asking us
Reply:just wear a black dress or something like that. ask 1 of ur friends what there goin 2 wear!!
Reply:I think a nice china- Dress!!
Reply:i think you should wear a simple but pretty dark blue dress because very one will be wearing black it will be nice to be similar but not the same and team the dress with sum cute little kitten heels and matching handbag a clutch bag would go nicely oh and put your hair up if possible
Reply:In china, white is a symbol of mourning so don't wear white!
Reply:a dress

I don't think Chinese people care as long as you don't go there naked
Reply:I'd say wear an asian type top with mandarin collar (simple) and black slacks with sandles. That should show that you tried to dress for the occasion for their benefit. I would not wear white top; something other than white. Godloveya for being so considerate.
Reply:Knife %26amp; fork?
Reply:A traditional Chinese bride wears a jacket and long dress in red silk with gold symbols embroidered on them. There are usually double happiness symbols and feng and lung symbolizing woman and man. For the reception, she changes to a cheongsaam in the same colors. This is a dress slit up the side to show how lucky the groom is to get such a sexy girl. I see cheongsaams in many colors, but not all are for weddings. Colors have symbolism. Red means happiness, gold means prosperity, white means purity, etc.
