Whats the best, cheapest, and easiest way to go about buying Wine for Wedding reception?

Getting married in Oct. Want to have wine at wedding but have to supply it ourselves. Where can we buy wine thats not too cheap tasting but cheap priced for approximately 100 guests? Any ideas?

Whats the best, cheapest, and easiest way to go about buying Wine for Wedding reception?
Costco. You can get decent quality wines, such as Colombia Crest, and other name brands at good prices and in large bottles. Keep in mind that if you are having your reception at any sort of restaurant or hall that serves wine, you may have to pay a corkage fee per bottle. Even with this, it is generally less expensive to supply your own bottles, particularly if you buy the larger bottles.

Stick with two or three wines to make it easier on yourself, your guests, and your hired help. One white and two reds is a safe bet.
Reply:Don't tell them it's for a wedding...I just read this in a bridal magazine...do the same for your flowers....Good Luck and Congratulations
Reply:We have a Big lots that sales wine try there. We also have a Dollar tree that does.Give them a try.Food is always good with Cabernet,so buy it its cheap.
Reply:Some of the bottlings made specifically for a chain are very good bargains and nearly all of them come from major producers that know how to put out a good bottle cheaply. As far as quality, most guests are there to socialize, see you, and have fun. Not too many are really going to critique what you are pouring as long as the first sip is agreeable. To get that kind of quality, you need to spend only $5-7 a bottle (max) and there are litterally thousands of wines out there that meet those specs. Without knowing your budget, spending over $10 a bottle is pointless (because noone will appreciate it) and spending less than maybe, hmmm, $4 is risky unless you buy some to try first. But like I said, nearly every wine made in that $5-7 category is going to work just fine. Try something from any of the major producers: Gallo, Beringer, CK Mondavi, Columbia Crest, etc. If you go to a smaller retailer, see if they will give you a break on whole case prices. For 100 people, you will need about 3-4 cases of white wine, and 5 or so of red (also depends on the food you will have, more chicken= more white, more beef = more red proportionately).
Reply:get Black Box Wine. i know it's "box wine," but it is really good (not like franzia), and has, i think, four bottles per box. my dad had it at his 50th birthday party, and no one knew the difference.

Reply:hit every wedding before yours, and just take a couple home every time. that would be the cheapest.
Reply:Two-buck-chuck is the best tasting for the price ($2 a bottle in CA, $3 a bottle in other places)

Then, print your own labels with the couples names, the wedding date etc and put them on the bottles.
Reply:I would recommend a neighborhood wine shop. Even though their prices might be slightly higher than a large chain, they are able and almost always willing to quite deeply discount wine purchased by the case. The big corporate wine stores usually don't discount at all or not enough to match the ma and pop place who wants to make you a customer!

Be sure to ASK, though. Many will not just automatically discount case purchases but will if you ask for it.

Reply:This is going to be your best bet, guranteed. You dont need expensive wine for a wedding reception. Go to www.webwine.com and buy a wine called PKNT by the case. They make a great cab and trust me your guests will enjoy it. Great prices and the shipping is cheap. Ask for Sean or Kijou. If PKNT doesnt look good try the Crane Lake. They make a great Cabernet and Merlot. Congrats and enjoy !!
Reply:I'll concur on the Costco suggestion. They carry a decent assortment of wine and their prices are pretty good.

If they have stores in your area, I'd also suggest Trader Joe's. They stock quite a few varieties of wine and many of them are low priced (many under $5).

If you buy from a local wine shop, you may be able to taste some wines in the store. Wherever you shop, if in-store tastings aren't available, buy a few bottles and try them at home. Have some friends or family taste as well. When you've determined what you like, go back to the store and buy however much you think you'll need. If they don't have a large enough quantity in the store, speak with the head of the store's wine department and discuss your needs with them.

Enjoy and have a wonderful wedding!
Reply:Cheapest way to go if you have some time on your hands is to make your own. I realize this my be a far stretched idea, but there are a lot of resources online about home brewing.
Reply:Try a wine wholesaler. Look up the info in your phone book or online by typing in wine wholesaler and your city and state.
