I have done parties for family before while I was in school, but I never charged, they would just give me some money. I recently graduated and received my AA in Visual Communications and now work as a visual merchandiser. Now, I am doing this wedding for a family member's relative and I am not sure how to go about establishing my pay. Advice please. Thanks.
How and how much do I charge for decorating a hall for a wedding reception?
You're talking family here. It would be wrong to ask for money. Be grateful if they offer, but remember, you're there to honor them!
Reply:you need to determine how many hours you are putting in and let them pay you either by the pary or b the hourly rate..prolly about 15. an hour - 50. 00 per party depending upon the difficulty of the job at hand.
good luck to you!
sounds like you have a career already!
:-)
Reply:Call other business around your area and find out what they would charge. Then tell your relatives what you have found out and offer them a discounted price.
Reply:jus as was stated already, shop around and get prices, go with the kind of decorations the bride and groom would like go to the cheapest place possible to get these and look in some bridal magazines and see ideas for how to set up also discuss all prices with whomever in the wedding party is responsible for the accounting and negogiate on prices to see what you both can agree on and both are happy with good luck
Reply:Well I guess charge for the price of the decorations and then add in a small fee per hour it takes to decorate. Make sure to discuss the pricing with them in advace so you as well as them can agree in a far price.
Reply:well if you are buying the decor then charge them what you paid for that and $10.00 an hour for your work that should also help cover gas prices driving around getting the decor.......if your just setting things up with out buying anything and you really dont want to charge them then tell them its your wedding gift to them......
Reply:thanx 4 the points!!!
Reply:As much as you think you can get away with....it might be wise to see what the competition charges......
