What kind of dress is ideal for a guest to wear at a wedding?

I'm 19 and going to a wedding for my boyfriend's brother at the beginning of October. I am just starting to meet a lot of his family so I want to make a good impression and am confused as to what kind of dress would be best. Short? Long? Color? Style? I'm about 5'6" 118lbs and can wear a size 3 to about a 7 depending on the style and how it fits if that makes any difference in the style.

What kind of dress is ideal for a guest to wear at a wedding?
It 100% depends on the location, time, date of the wedding. We need to know if it is Black Tie, Daytime, etc. wedding.

Reply:Depends whether it's a casual or formal wedding. Although I have seen people wearing more casual attire than not. Wear what YOU feel comfortable in. I know you're trying to make a good first impression but go with your instincts. Take your mom, sister, or a friend shopping with you. Take your boyfriend. If he approves, then you know you've made good choice in dress. It doesn't matter whether the dress is short or long, it matters how YOU wear it. Good luck to you.

You are sensible starting to plan what you are going to wear now. As its at the begging of October the weather will still be fairly mild (hopefully). You can maybe even pick up a nice dress in the summer sales. Go for a pretty colour, pastles are always good but it depends on your colouring really. Baby pink, blue, aqua etc.

For a wedding its best to wear knee length I think as this is flattering without being too short. You dont want to look like your trying too hard but at the same time you will just look classy and good!

If the dress is quite exposed then wear a cardigan or wrap - these can look really cute. Also perfect for day and then you can take it off for the evening party if they are having noe. Wear the dress with heels and you should look good!

I had this style dress for the last wedding I went to and a lot of people said how pretty it looked. It was knee length on me and I wore it with plain heels and matched my bag to the shoes. It was in a more suttle colour thou a sort of aqua as this pink is quite loud but the style is very pretty and flattering so just to give you a idea....

Reply:try a simple cocktail dress thats just below the knees in a nice satiny fabric. keep it modest and very elegant looking. dont be too over the top and make sure it isnt white or some other color like neon green taht will make you look terrible. if you know for sure that the wedding is going to be a huge extravagant black tie wedding you could go for a floor length gown thats really elegant. again just make sure it complements your figure and that it isnt too revealing.
