I am making a wedding cake that is going to be sitting outside in the middle of june and i dont want it to melt during the wedding.

Whats the best frosting to use when frosting a wedding cake that will be outside in the middle of june?
Have you ever made a wedding cake before? What is the climate? if the temps are usually 90 degrees or over in june where you live tread carefully. You can use buttercream or a swiss meringe buttercream and make sure all tiers are supported well. Support dowels should allow the tiers to set above the cake not sit on the cake. Although it may look like the tiers are directly on top of each other their should be at least 1/8 inch between them. If you are an experienced decorator Fondant is the most resilliant to heat. If you are using icing flowers as part of the decorating use either gumpaste or royal icing for the flowers. Do not use chocolate icing. Good luck!
Reply:use fondent!! it is stiff and it won't get sticky, runny or sweat in the heat. i own a cake business and i find it will withstand almost anything!!! be careful....it is very sweet.
Reply:Fondant will be fine unless it is humid, Royal Icing can stand up to heat and humidity.

Reply:no icing on the outside use a fondant, they come in different flavors and colors plus it will make the cake look cleaner with a more finished look
