Any contract written up and signed by witnesses is a legal document that can be recorded at any courthouse, so how does a person convince a court that a covenant wedding certificate is a legal document that can be filed even though the state only recognizes the state marriage license?
How do you file a covenant wedding certificate at a courthouse in a state that doesn't recognize it?
The court is not obligated to file any document in from any other juridiction, unless compelled to by federal law. That is why the take the marriage certificate, but not the convenant.
If you have the covenant, why do you need the state to recognize it? Isn't it enough between you, your spouse and God?
Reply:there is less chance for a wedding certificate to be rejected if it is authentic. as far as weddin certificate is concerned there are witnesses required .
if however the bride or else the groom or any of the witnesses disapproves ,the certificate is then of no use.
or any of the detail is fake ,like the names , or date of birth e.t.c
but i guess it is very uncommon .
state court can be convince when all the details are true
Reply:The problem is that you are trying to record it with the court. Courts are not in the recording business. Courts file documents pertainint to litigating pending before the court. Try the county recorder if it is important to you. Recording it won't change your status, but if you present it to the county recorder they will probably record it for you.
