When do I need to shop for a wedding dress?

So I just got engaged, and I'm excited about buying my dress, but I want to wait. I'm planning on losing as much weight as I can in a healthy way. Hopefully close to 60 pounds. I've got almost a year 'til the wedding.

So how close to the wedding can I start my shopping?

When do I need to shop for a wedding dress?
6 months before the wedding is a good time to start shopping. Some dresses are made to order, so it takes a few months to have them made %26amp; delivered, and then you have all the alterations.

Even if you wind up buying a size or 2 larger than you think you will be on your wedding day, you can just have it taken in. It's easier to have a dress taken in than let out, so DON'T make the mistake of ordering a dress you can't fit into - I know someone who did this and had to rush around to find a dress that fit the month before the wedding.
